So we're switching to Verizon FiOS next Friday...
from RCN. It takes 4-6 hours to install, they said. I hope it's worth it!
Does anyone have FiOS? We're making the switch because it's a lot cheaper, plus they're giving us a 3 for the price of 2 deal for the first few months. Oh and I'm FINALLY getting DVR (so i can stop watching things on Hulu on my small computer screen). Praise Jebus.
Re: So we're switching to Verizon FiOS next Friday...
the grandparents made this switch after years of no cable.
although they love the zillion channels, verizon absolutely, 100%, no question about it SUCKS. they sneak in all sorts of hidden little charges and "lose" paperwork and "don't see" notes made on the account. and trying to reason with their customer service agents is IMPOSSIBLE.
can you get out of it? i really can't say anything good about verizon at all.
We've had it since April and have had no problems and really like it. ?But like pp said there are no local new channels i.e NY 1. ? I've heard the real kicker is that after a year your bill goes up greatly enough to make people switch back to their old cable company. ?We'll see.
The guy was here for at least 4-5 hours. ?We had telephone, internet, and TV installed. ?
What I really like is the multi-room DVR so things I taped in the living room I can watch in my bedroom. ?The only thing is with the multi-room you can not pause or rewind live TV which really sucks.?
we have had it for 2 years now and NEVER EVER had an issues with it, billing, service, upgrades, etc..they all have been unbelieveably helpful and prompt...we have fabulous svc here and i wouldnt ever go to any other company..we had bright house in our rental for a while and it was horrible, comcast when we lived in MI and loved them too, but no comcast here..
overall we have been very very happy with verizon fios

I just got FiOS at the beginning of the month and so far I have been pretty happy with it (switched from really slow DSL). I haven't recieved a bill yet to see what fees they'll tack on, but when I had dsl and phone service, all the fees were attached to the phone. When I canceled it , my internet was a flat fee.
The only problem during set-up was that the tech said my computer was too old to set up wireless with. I just did it after he left, but he thought I needed to go buy a whole new computer (anybody else get this line?).
I don't have cable or a land-line phone so no input on those parts. When they inevitably raise the rates, call and say you're cancelling. They'll lower them back down (at least they did with my DSL).
