I want to hear more about your side business! I hope it has to do with cooking - your food always looks really good
Re: *hawkilady*
It does... so far its still pretty much just an idea... I'm working on a website. But I'm hoping to have a small catering business up and running in time to do small holiday parties. I sort of got the idea because Todd's cousin just build an addition on to their house and Todd asked if they were going to host Thanksgiving this year. She said "yeah right - last time I did that my mom had to come and cook everything." I told her if she hosted, I would cook (we dont have the space/seating). So that's the deal. Later that night, I got to thinking about it and realized people would pay for the same thing.
I've always wanted to open a restaurant some day and my sister and I have talked about starting an event planning company, including invitations, catering, etc. (She a graphic designer) someday when we finally live in the same state. But I decided why wait, I can do the catering part now. I'm planning to just do small parties, baby showers, bridal showers, holiday dinners, etc. like serving 20-50 people.
Problem is the state of KY technically requires any food for sale to prepared in a commercial kitchen, meaning I can't do it out of my house, but that just isnt feasible so I'm most likely going to hold off on licensing the business and just keep it small, at least until we find out if it can go anywhere, and where Todd's job will take us next summer.
I need something to keep me interested more than anything else as my job is so boring most of the time.
(and thanks - I'm trying to get better at the picture part of food, it's harder than it looked to make it look appetizing in the picture - I need better lighting in my kitchen)

Hawkilady--
i think there is a way to get around that. I would ask around, but I know people make cakes out of their kitchen, but i think they have to get their kitchen inspected every once in a while. I would check on that...but i know quite a few cake people do it...
