OK, so I believe we've done this before but Im not doing well finding the post...
What do you pay for your hair to be colored, and on top of that, where do you go?
I found some gray hair... *gasp* and I refuse to let them start springing up left and right. I have long thick hair, but am not opposed to having it cut shorter (like shoulders). I dont think i want highlights / lowlights.. just a brown color... I would do it myself, but because it is so thick, it requires 2 boxes and I cant do it quick enough on my own and I dont trust my husband!

Re: What do you pay???
honestly I go to regency beauty salon (I go to the one in mesa, they may have one closer to you), there is always a boss watching them, it may take a little longer, but it saves money.
their prices are cheap ( I pay $9 for a cut)
Though I don't color my hair so I'm not much help there
Everyone said what I paid was expensive before...but oh well, here it goes.
I pay about $40+ tip (and I tip a lot on top of that) for my cut. He's at Toni and Guy out in Gilbert. I used to go to their Fashion Square salon. I general I like TG, but I have only gone to one specific stylist since 2003.
When I used to have my hair coloured it was closer to $100 total. I stopped colouring it though and am currently trying to grow out my natural colour. I've practically forgotten what it looks like.
Holy crap! Jaye, you pay WHAT at Toni & Guy? When I went to the one in Japan it was flipping $250 USD for a cut and "color" that looked VERY similiar to what I walked in with.
Confession: I don't ever get my hair done in NY. I have managed, for the last 3.5 years, to time my trips to MI in such a way that I'm due (sometimes slightly overdue) for an appointment. This changed a bit during the wedding, so I have a cut/colorist in AZ now, too. For both MI & AZ, I pay around $90-100, including tip.
With the plane ticket, it's STILL cheaper than getting it done in Manhattan.
My friend does my hair... She does do other peoples hair as well. She used to work in a salon but had a car accident so she has lots of doc appts.
ANYWAY...she has never given me a price to pay her...and since she keeps it all, no need to tip
So for color I pay her $60...though now my hair is waaaay short so I might cut it back to $40.
And when she cuts it I give her $40.
As far as salons go, Urban Hair on Indian School! LOOOOVE THEM!
I go to Wild Roots Salon, I see Brook, who rocks!
I typically pay $85 for trim/color (plus tip)- but I do like highlights, low lights, and all over color (typically we do about 3-4 shades in my hair).
I Brook, she's at 83rd ave and Union Hills.
GEEZUS. I think the most I've ever paid there was like $150 and that was for highlights which were more $$.
I don't feel so bad about what I pay now!
It's been 4 weeks since I've seen my stylist and I'm dying to go get my hair cut. I seriously don't think I can take another 4 weeks. I love getting my haircut.
I pay a lot, $135 plus tip for a cut and partial highlights, but it is worth it to me. Getting my hair done is my one spurge and I try to stretch the time between visits out as long as possible.
I go to Leiden Mitchell on Indian School and 44th Street.
Wow.. it is expensive out here, that is for sure...
Thanks for the tips ladies.... I might try to do it myself again.. we'll see.
Shannon... i might have you hook me up with your chick!
I need to get Will's hair done SOON! It's beginning to aggrivate me, haha! Soon enough!
I'll get back to you! I dont have money in my back pocket this week, but maybe after the 16th will be good :-)
I've been seeing the same hairdresser since I was in jr. high. I adore Robin. I just follow her around to whatever salon she happens to be at. Currently, she is at A Salon on 35th Ave (I think that's what it's called!).
It's at 35th ave. & Thunderbird. I have never full-out dyed my hair, but I get highlights put in about once a year or so. I want to say that I pay around $75 or so (which is a really good deal especially since I have very thick hair, and she's always talking about how she uses like twice as much product on me. lol). I usually pay around $25 - $30 for cut and style.
I think she may not charge me as much as others though since I've been going to her forever. I swear she still looks at me as a "kid." The highlights may be closer to her normal price, but I know that her cut and style price is more than that for most people. Probably near $35. My last hair cut, I told her to stop giving me discounts. lol
Anyway, she's amazing with hair. An absolute perfectionist. And the sweetest, most adorable hair dresser in the world. She's like a second mom to me. I even drive up from Tucson just for hair appointments with her.
And to comment on Jenn's hair stylist, Brooke - she did my hair for my wedding (styled it - Robin doesn't do updos). And well, Jenn's my cousin, and I have obviously known her a long time... ;-) Anyway, Jenn has GORGEOUS hair. And her hair is always super cute. And Brooke seems to be pretty awesome with it.
