Julia and Julie Girls Night Party
I've decided that my next entertaining event will be a girls night at my house. We'll watch the movie Julia and Julie (or maybe it is Julia and Julia?) and eat fun french food and of course, have a few drinks.
My problem is that I don't quiet know what to serve for food and drinks. I'm the type that likes to try a recipie before I serve it to guests. Right now I'm trying to gather ideas, so I was wondering if there was anyone out there that was planning a similar type of party OR loves to cook French food that could give me some ideas.
TIA!
Re: Julia and Julie Girls Night Party
It's Julie and Julia. I found this http://www.etsy.com/storque/spotlight/party-planners-we-heart-julia-child-party-with-food-wine-mag-4577/
You could buy this http://www.overstock.com/Books-Movies-Music-Games/Mastering-the-Art-of-French-Cooking/181534/product.html (I have it) and try some of the recipes in there that you might think your guests would enjoy.
This article http://www.stjoenews.net/news/2009/aug/26/Throw-a-Julia-Child-party/ has some good food ideas in it too. Recipes here

I cook a lot of French food and studying in Paris as an undergrad eventually led to me going to culinary school, so this is near and dear to my heart. Some ideas, including appetizers, entrees and desserts:
Wild Mushroom and Thyme Bouchees
Butternut Squash Galette - slice if doing hors d'oeuvres
Mushroom Crepes with Bechamel Sauce
Moules Mariniere
Peches Melba
Plum Tarte Tatin - these can be individually made in ramekins
Strawberry Napoleons
Chocolate Mousse
Mini Vanilla Meringues
Check out epicurious.com for more inspiration. As far as drinks go, these would all be great.
French 75
Strawberry Kir Royale
Cider (from Normandy if you can find it)
Wine!
