Tonight, I experienced the worst moment of my life...

...as a Gator fan, that is.  My heart absolutely stopped when Tebow went down.

Here's to a speedy recovery for him (and the rest of our team, geez!) over the next couple weeks.  GO GATORS!

Re: Tonight, I experienced the worst moment of my life...

  • Every time they show the replay of the hit (I'm watching the PSU game), I flinch.  I hope he has a speedy recovery.
  • I felt bad because moments before it happened I said- damnit I'm sick of tim tebow.

The replaying of various players puking (for some reason this has been the go to story with the SEC lately, complete with video/pictures) by ESPN was getting a little ridiculous.  I don't want to see that.  If you say they were puking, then I will believe you.

Fuuck TTC - I'm moving on.

  • Scary stuff!! I'm hearing about it in the car and after reading this I'm not sure I want to see it!! Scary stuff! Hope he recovers soon!

I agree 100%.  No need for the close-ups.  Ick!

    Amen!

Last week there was some Alabama players sick and wouldn't you know- bam puke pictures.

I even told my husband before the Florida game that I'd bet good money they'd be showing guys throwing up.  Sure enough.

Disgusting.  I'm a sympathetic puker and these last few weeks of the flu running through the SEC has tested my gag reflex like nothing else.

  • He got his bell rung pretty good. I hope he has a speedy recovery and is back on the field. It is so hard to see any athlete go down.

  • I hope he has a quick recovery too, that was awful to see.  They kept replaying it during the PSU game.

  • I saw a quick little blurb at the bottom of the screen on ESPN that he was released from the Kentucky hospital today.  Urban Meyer said Tebow was doing "fine" today.

The good news is that they have a bye week next week.  Hopefully that is enough time for him to recover before they head to LSU the following week.

I do wish him the best.

  • Thanks all for the kind words.  I'm glad that there are a classy bunch of fans on this board!  Yes

TT was discharged from the Lexington hospital this morning (CT scans came back negative), and is on his way home. GREAT news!

Obviously, there is a good deal of uncertainty as to TT's ability to play for LSU / the rest of the season.  Honestly, though, all I want is for him to make a full recovery on his own time.  I think I can speak for most Gator fans in saying that I MUCH prefer Timmy's health over the Gators' ability to go undefeated, win the SEC, the B(C)S, etc.  That's how much this kid has come to mean to all of us, and that's why the collective heart of Gator Nation stopped when he didn't move for 2-3 minutes last night.

Again, on behalf of the Tebows / Gators, thanks for everyone's thoughts and prayers!  Good news so far, and we will all be waiting anxiously in the news that comes out over the next week or so...

  • I'm a huge Tebow fan - I adore him. And OSU played late last night, so I didn't even hear until after 10:00 that he'd gotten hurt. I saw the replay on ESPN, and I only had to see it once. I had to look away when they replayed it...I'm SO glad he's OK!

I'll definitely be keeping my eye on him. I'm hoping he can come back because he's such a hard worker and is a great guy for his team, but I just want him to recover.

  • I feel very sorry for Tebow, but what was Urban Meyer thinking playing him when he was sick and they were up all those points.  I think that is a bad call on Meyer's part (although it is typical for him).  One thing I have always questioned about certain coaches is their desire to rack up the points over the health of the players.  I know many of you will think that I'm just saying this as a Kentucky fan, but I think sometimes the health of the players is much more important than adding extra points to a significant lead.  I hope Tebow is well, and I hope that Meyer thinks about this before he leaves his starters in when they are sick.

    1. Did Tebow and co. look sick in the first half?  Nope.  Actually, our offense looked better in the first quarter than it had all season.

    2. We're not talking about Florida being up 60 points, and Tebow still playing late in the 4th.  He went down in the beginning of the 3rd, when UF (1) hadn't scored since the 1st, and (2) they were 'only' up by 24.  This is the SEC.  24 points is nothing, especially when there is an entire half to play.  Furthermore, this game came after a week when we caught a whole bunch of flak for 'only' beating Lane Kiffin and his squad by 10.  All the media's giving TN a "moral victory," for God's sake.

Urban didn't do anything wrong, and he wasn't sacrificing any player for the sake of running up the score.  Did you note that we didn't score anything in the 2nd quarter?  Urban held the reins back, majorly.

Or you could just read this article.  All the media flak Florida is getting (and that UK / all other fans are jumping on) is simply due to the fact that people are tired of the (deserved) hype.

Did Tebow look sick?  No, but he had to fly up on a separate flight due to illness and was questionable up until a few hours before game time.  Players still being played while they were throwing up on the sidelines.  Also, they had Tebow sitting on the sidelines for an hour before they even took him to the hospital.

We're not talking about Florida playing Bama or anything like that, they were playing Kentucky.  And about the whole UT stuff, who cares what the media said about it.  Florida still won regardless.  Winning by 10 points is still a win.  You don't have to win everything by 20+ points.

I'm not saying that I don't think Florida is good.  They are.  I think it is terrible that Tebow went down and what happened to him.  I'm just saying that it may have been preventable, and if you look at the history of Florida games and the amount of points Urban likes to put on the board, it raises some questions.  I would say the same thing if it were any other team.

True.  However, nothing about his behavior / play in the first half indicated that he needed to be taken out immediately.

What does that have to do with anything?

Yup.  Still an SEC team, and not a bad one at that.  Crazier things have happened.

Preachin' to the choir.  I'm just saying that for Urban / Florida, it's a 'damned if you do, damned if you don't,' no matter how many points we score (or don't).

Some questions about what?  The vast majority of our points from the last half of last season, and in this season, were scored in the first half.  We switch to our second string by the end of the 3rd / beginning of the 4th 99% of the time.  Would you just rather us roll over and die for 3/4 of the game?

  • About 5 minutes before it happened, I turned to DH and said "why won't they take him out? they are up by a lot and his is sick! They just want to run up the score and pad his stats for the pros. I hope he doesn't get hurt."

Then I felt awful and mad at the same time when it happened. I feel for him.

Considering the amount of hits Tebow takes every game, I am quite confident that the LAST thing anyone is thinking about is his pro career.

As to the 'RUTS' argument, see above.

    Go Gators.  Smile

Really? Then why does everyone admit that the first game of the year was purposefully scheduled to give an easy game for Tebow to practice a more pro-style offense to make him better for the pros?

Of course they are thinking about his pro career. EVERY school does with their big stars.
