Online Backups?

Does anyone use an online backup service?  We don't consistently plug in our external hard drive, so I'm thinking we may be willing to pay a little for a more automatic process.

I found this article from PC Mag with their recommendations, but I was wondering if anyone here has any input.

(Or maybe I'll just start putting reminders on my calendar.  Wink)

Re: Online Backups?

  • All of those suggested in the article are good.  Personally, we don't need that much updated on an ongoing basis, so we use Dropbox.  It's free and for the 2G we actually need updated and accessible wherever we are, it's awesome.
  • I'd either set up reminders, automate the process using my own external, or I'd buy a network capable external and set up automatic backups. Externals are so cheap now that I wouldn't be able to justify paying someone to store my potentially sensitive backup files. I run a Mac with Leopard at school and use time machine with a $100 external to back up my drive automatically.
