Need help with an anniversary present for DH

Our anniversary is coming up in three weeks and I'm a bit torn on what to get DH. We spent our HM in Tuscany and it was fantastic (in fact we loved it so much, DH wants to buy a little villa there, you know, when we're rich and all, lol). I found a beautiful photograph on etsy, as well as a couple of paintings, but I cannot for the life of me decide which one to get him. Here are the options:

1. http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=25689834

I absolutely love this, and it's not terribly expensive, but I'm a little worried about it being a little too "abstract" for my DH, he likes more "classic" I guess paintings

2. http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=29972147

This one is awesome! It's a bit more expensive (but not something we can't afford really). The only draw-back I see to this is how the heck am I going to top this next year?!? LOL

3.  http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=10752472

This is the photograph I found and love, I think it has an awesome awesome feel to it. This lady has a sale going on, and it'll be 9"x12" and will be $55.

So of these three what would you guys say would be the best option? Oh, and I originally came up with this idea when I realized that in Russia, second anniversary is paper (go figure), so my first thought was to get the photograph and frame it.

Thanks!

P.S. Sorry, I have no idea how to make these links clicky.

Re: Need help with an anniversary present for DH

  • I really like the first one, but that's just because it's more my style.

#3 just seems so small to me.  do you have any place in mind to hang it? which size/colors do you think would fit best?

  • Is the 3rd one a photograph?  I am not sure it looks like one.  Anyway, I might like the first one best.  I like the colors and it's a bit like Van Gogh's "A Starry Night."  I think the first one gets my vote.

And, I think it is classic, not too abstract at all.

  • I like the last one. ?I am a big fan of small works of art. :)?
  • I prefer the first too. I am not terribly artistic though.

  • Thanks ladies!

Helene, I'm not too sure where we'd put it, we have a painting of a fall landscape in Russia (that we got there on our last trip) in the hallway across the kitchen, I was thinking somewhere in the living room (our kitchen and living room are only separated by the counter, if that makes sense), so they'd be not too far from each other.

And nobody likes #2? At all? LOL.

  • Yuliya, I hope you'll appreciate my honesty here.  I am not sure I like any of those as an anniversary present.  For some reason, they feel so impersonal and generic to me.  They just don't seem that sophisticated enough, as if you could have bought them at your local store.  Especially for the price of the ones you posted.  It could also be that I find "Tuscan" art to be so contrived.

What about finding a photograph of you on your actual honeymoon (or perhaps your recent Mexico trip) and giving it a nice frame?  A nice, high-quality print with a mat and frame.  So much more personal and I bet the result is going to be so much nicer.  Or perhaps make a photo book of your trip.  I made one for H on blurb dot com from our Warsaw/Prague trip that he loved.

  • I like the third one!

  • i like #3 best but i also agree with amy about maybe using a photo from your honeymoon or one of you together from your most recent trip. you could have a photo printed on canvas so that it's cotton (traditional 2nd anniversary gift)?

  • Thanks for the input, ladies.

Amy and Joanna, I do understand where you're coming from. The thing is my DH is the type of guy to enjoy a "practical" gift vs. a sentimental. We have our HM pictures book already. Thanks again.
