Can anyone recommend a good GI specialist?

Hi ladies,

Been struggling with some GI issues, got referred to a GI doc who basically ran a few tests, scanned my gallbladder, then put me on meds. (said eveything was negative) The meds help, but I really want to get to the root of my GI issues. I was perfectly healthy, then suddenly I started having problems. The nurse called me to tell me to "read a book" on IBS. (which I don't have the symptoms of) So....I am going to get a 2nd opinion. I do have insurance....and don't need a referral to see a specialist. I know that some docs may not take my insurance but if anyone has a GI doc that they really love please recommend!!! I am open to traditional or even non-traditional medicine. Thanks if anyone can help!

  • I see Dr. Libeoda at Digestive Disease Consultants and he's good. ?Kind of a dud as far as personality but he's a good doc! ?It's a big group so there's a few to choose from. ?Good luck....I think he finally got to the root of my GI probs after another doc told me it was IBS too. ?Which I knew it wasn't because I had no IBS symptoms either! ?
  • My husband sees Dr. Khadra and Dr. Maqsood. ?He loves both of them. ?I don't know the name of the practice but it is in Clermont and they have office hours in Winter Garden too. ?If you google their names, you will probably get the practice name.

  • I use Andrew Giles in Longwood.  He has been outstanding.
  • I used to see Dr. Coppolla.  He is in the same practice as Dr. Giles posted above.  He seemed to listen to my concerns and really try to get to the bottom of things.  Good luck!
  • My husband see's Dr. Straker at Digestive Disease Consultants.  He started out with Dr. Katz, but Dr. Katz was out of town once when DH had to spend a few days in the hospital.  Through that, we got to meet all the Drs at that practice.  Dr. Straker is the bomb-diggity.  Awesome, super down to earth guy.  I personally thought Dr. Katz lacked any interpersonal skills, but I frequently think that of MDs.  DH then asked to switched to Dr. Straker which caused a lot of drama evidently (the nurse admitted that people frequently ask to switch to Dr. Straker).  So I would start with Dr. Straker if at all possible :-)  Good luck!
