Re: PCP/TTC/ATP Wednesday

  • Hello :-)

I'm really not feeling good today. I don't know if m/s is kicking in at 13w5d or if I'm getting the cold that everyone else in my office has had.  I think I might try to get through lunch and then go home and sleep.

Other than that things are going well. We have an appt on Monday so I'm really looking forward to hearing the baby's heartbeat again.  :-)  I might also go next week to check out on of the local hospitals but we'll see if I have time.  I need to decide though b/c it where I deliver will determine whether or not I switch OB practices.

  • Two - Sorry to hear you're not feeling well.  Hopefully you can get some rest this afternoon and feel better!

I'm 9 wks today!  My 2nd appt and first ultrasound are set for just three weeks from now. I can't wait to hear the heartbeat and see our baby!! I seemed to be feeling a little better for a few days, but now it seems I'm just a slightly different kind of sick, lol.  I am SO HUNGRY.  It seems like I need to eat almost constantly to feel okay - if I let myself get too hungry, I feel really really sick, and it's tough to come back from it.  Still having some trouble sleeping and having to go to bed very early.  I can't believe the first two months are complete and that next week I'll be in double digits!!!

  • My QOTD suggestion is: What characteristic  are you currently working on to improve your future/current parenting?

My answer: I would say "letting things go" or "not sweating the small stuff." This one is something I tend to do a lot of, but have recently made a conscious effort to surrender. I'll remind myself that whatever it is I'm concerned with is most likely either not as big as I'm making it seem in my head, or something I can't control anyway. I have a little mantra to use when necessary and C is really good at reminding me to relax about things.

Our update: As I mentioned before within other posts, this is now our official start month. Today I'm ordering a vial to be shipped to arrive on Friday when I'll start checking opks. Monday I have an acupuncture appointment and we're anticipating a Monday evening insem. More about it all on my blog in a password protected post.

  • QOTD - Patience. I am still working on it. I am sure I'll work on it forever. It drives me nuts when things take 1001 times longer than they need to - and having 2 preschoolers, everything takes 1001 times longer than it needs to. Embarrassed

     Update:

I posted this on another board:

    Missing Child: Reward

I seem to have lost a sweet, good natured, and happy little boy. He is about 37 inches tall, 37 lbs, has blond hair and green eyes, and typically answers to the name Carter - although sometimes he requests being called Pirate Carter.

Whoever took him, evidently replaced him with a child fittting the same physical description, but this child seems to cry at the drop of a hat, is very ornery, and either doesn't listen or is deaf.

His mother and I miss the original Carter and would like to get him back ASAP. I am willing to exchange the new Carter for the old Carter immediately. We miss him.

  • 2brides - that's hysterical!  Well not what you're going through, but the post.

Mrs._F - your first u/s is going to be so exciting! I can't wait to hear all about it.

QOTD - I'm working on just buckin up and doing things I hate doing.  I admit that I'm a procrastinator when it comes to non-fun things.  But over the course of the last six months or so I've been getting better.  I mean really - who doesn't want to put off picking up the dog poop?

  • oh MrsF, that's exciting.

QOTD: I need to stop complaining/obsessing about my weight. It is not changing it and is very not positive.

  • Update: We both told the people we work with this week so it's only a matter of days before the whole agency knows. We also told all our church friends. I'm squirming under the weight of so many people knowing, but am trying to take it in stride.

We got the final results of our NT scan back last week (did I already tell you all this? I can't remember). The measurements were good for both babies, but apparently something was off in my bloodwork (the balance of two particular proteins?). Our original risk for Down syndrome (based on my age-- I'm 32) was 1 in 370, but after the NT scan it's now 1 in 67. We're not planning to do any invasive testing (CVS, amnio), though, so it's just a wait-and-see at this point.

QOTD: I am working on my work/life balance. I have a tendency to get sucked into work and can be a bit of a workaholic at times. I've been making a concerted effort to let some things go, though. Right now it just is making me feel behind and like a poor employee, but hopefully I'll settle into a good new pattern soon.

  • We've done more research on donors at the bank we like, and last week my PCP signed the forms they require.   We're hoping to open an account within the next week or so; this week is crazy busy for us both.  If we decide to go with the donor we've talked about for a while, we'll need to purchase vials and store them, since he is no longer donating.  That feels like a really big step.

In the meantime, I've been tracking my cycles more closely this month, and so far things look good for starting in December.  Which alternately sounds way too long and way too soon.

QOTD: I keep finding myself overwhelmed by housework, and I guess left to myself I am a bit lazy and a slob, so it gets away from me easily; but then it drives me crazy and I don't want people over when it's a mess.  In the past I have made a few false starts in working out a routine I can live with, but I've never stuck with it long enough.  So I am really working on keeping myself more organized and forming some good habits, in hopes that I can carry them through pregnancy and to when we have a baby, and make it easier for us all.

  • Just got back from the big ultrasound, and found out it's a boy!  We have to do it again because they couldn't get good shots of his heart or profile, but he had no problem showing us his boy parts.

He also seems to have a cyst on his brain.  I don't recall the name of it, but the good doctor says it is actually very common in normal babies and it always goes away.  One thing it can be a sign of though is trisomy 18.  We elected to do the ultra scan a couple of months ago just for that and our results were 1:10,000 chance.  So I'm not going to worry about the cyst for now, she assures us that it is indeed common and that it does not cause any other problems.

  • it's not wednesday anymore. :-P

things are good. she's getting bigger, we're getting closer. i can't believe our shower with her family is just a little over a week away already! we had the consult with the high-risk ob this week, and everything looks good. she'll have to do blood thinners for 6 weeks after delivery, but it's a low dose and won't interfere with breastfeeding which is good.

qotd: i've been working on how i talk to people. sometimes my tone doesn't match what i'm trying--or want--to say. so i've been working on trying to be more aware of how what i say sounds instead of just the words coming out. if that makes sense.
