Re: omg did you hear about this?

  • I just read the article. This is what scares me about non necessary surgery. Surgery is a risk no matter how minor. So sad.
  • WOW!!! My thoughts and prayers are with this family and the difficult decision they need to make.

Surgery scares the crap out of me, I don't care how routine it is.

  • Wow thats super scary. Poor lady and three kids left behind.

  • routine my A$$!!! routine is something like a dental cleaning or a check-up at your PCP... lipo is not routine and not necessary. people who choose to have this elective surgery know the risks of it, regardless of where it is completed.

my T&P go out to her family... it is a difficult decision, and sadly, this could've been avoided.

  • So sad, that is why I am so scared of my family and friends doing surgeries like that

  • Key to having cosmetic procedures done is investigating the doctor you are going to use. Do research, make sure that their licenses are current, that they dont have any previous cases against for malpractice. Its very unfortunate that this happened, but not only is this dr not certified in the states, his facility is unlicensed - 2 reasons to try to find someplace else to get your work done. I've been under 5 times for elective cosmetic surgery, and, knock on wood, have never had any issues or concerns. Also, the article states that the patients reaction was to lidocaine. I worked in a dental office, and lidocaine is what is used to numb patients when they are getting dental work done. We had a pt who had a seizure in the office, as a result to an allergic reaction to the drug. Some people do not even know that they are allergic to it, until something unfortunate happens. Thankfully, the pt in my office only had a minor seizure, we called 911 immediately, and he was fine. Dont knock cosmetic procedures, while some do it to impress others, there are those of us who to so we can feel better about ourselves.
