Random

I just wanted to get some different POV's about this.

Your friend is having (or, maybe you are throwing) a Sex Toy Party.

Would you throw one?

Would you attend one?

Do you think they are immature/lame?

Other thoughts?

Re: Random

  • If I were the type to throw salesy parties, yes

    I would and have

Nope. I think they can pretty fun, especially when alcohol's involved. :)

  • Thanks Mamie.

I'm thinking of throwing one (w/ alcohol Stick out tongue )

Part of me thinks it would be fun, but the other part of me is being lame.

  • I don't think I would throw one because I feel awkward pressuring my friends to buy things at my home.

I would definitely attend one- they are fun- and I don't think immature/lame.

  • I say go for it! In fact, I kind of wish I had a friend throwing one since I'm in the market for some things. (TMI?) :)

The last one I went to was a little bparty for a friend. Her mom and mom's friends came. At first we thought it would be a little weird, but the older ladies were soooo into it, cracking up over everything that was being passed around.

  • Well, duh....all J'09ers are welcomed!    Drinks

  • Would you throw one? I have twice in the past.

Would you attend one? Aside from the two I've thrown, I've attended one other.

Do you think they are immature/lame? Clearly not!

Other thoughts? The group of girls/couples going makes a significant impact on the result of the party, as does the hostess (party rep -- like "The Pampered Chef Lady") you get. Also, I think different "brands" (there are two that I know of for sure, but I've only been to a party for one, and all three of the ones I've been to have been all girls) may handle their events differently.

The first one I went to was a bit strange because so many people weren't able to make it, and there was a really terrible accident on the freeway -- so, in total, there were only six girls there who didn't really know one another. THAT made it a bit uncomfortable.

The two I threw, I think, went fabulously. The first one was in college, and I had about eight girls there, but they were all really good friends. That one was much more quiet/low key (again, had a lot to do with the hostess and our age at the time).

After I got my first M.A., we (we being my housemates and I) threw another one in late January as a pre-Valentine's day kickoff party and it was AWESOME. But then, we went all out for the party aspect -- we made themed drinks, did gift bags (candy and condoms), bought a ton of candles and red and white Christmas lights, etc. We had about 12 girls at that one, all mid- to late- twenties, and it was SO much fun. Everyone got really into playing the games (like, naughty word search and stuff), which makes the evening much more interesting. And we just laughed and talked all night. The hostess said it was the most fun and relaxed party she'd seen (but then, she'd only been doing parties for about a year).

  • I think it would be fun!

With a good, close group of girl friends especially.?

  • Hypocritically, I would definitely attend one but I would never throw one.  Not because it's sex toys, but because I feel like when I invite people to my home, it's as guests and I would feel really awful guilt-tripping them into buying things.

Maybe it's just the experiences I've had with these home sales parties (Cookie Lee and PartyLite), but there are some high-pressure saleswomen out there and the hosts got into it too and I felt like I couldn't relax and had to pick which thing I would buy and make it a good one.  But I liked hanging out with the other guests, so I wouldn't mind attending again.  Make sense?

  • I've been to 3 different ones. It depends on what they are showing or what is going on. I would never host one but I don't have a problem going.

One was a birthday party, another a bachlorette party, and the last one was just for fun.  I think if you get a good host it can make it fun.  I went to one party where the host was pressuring us to sign up and sell sex toys.

  • I think it's a great idea! Especially with alcohol involved. Do it!
  • 1-Maybe

    2-Yes

    3-No

I have never been to one before but I would want to go if a friend was throwing one, it seems like it could be alot of fun.
