How often do you talk to DW/DH/SO during the day?

This was on my local board and I found the responses interesting.  During the work day how often you talk to your partner?  Email? Text? Phone? Long conversations or short? Particular reasons or just because?

Re: How often do you talk to DW/DH/SO during the day?

  • We usually email back and forth a few times for no reason.  Unless one of us is having a super busy day.

Occasionally, we'll do a quick hello on the phone at lunch.

And then we talk again at the end of the day, every day, to talk about when C will be home (sometimes I call her when I get out of work - she always calls to tell me she's on her way home).

    We talk a lot...

  • lets just say I get teased by my coworkers for how much we talk...and they dont see my texts....
  • We dont too much during the day. We both have physically active jobs that require us to be away from our phones so no calls, internet or texting. We send quick txts to each other when we can sneak some time to ourselves. And we call right before leaving the house ( if we leave at different times) and coming home.
  • we generally don't because she works third shift, so she's sleeping while i'm at work during the day. if she's up and about sometimes she'll text or call me to ask a question or tell me something, and once in a while just to chat. i send her texts every night when i'm going to bed, and she gets them on her lunch break.
  • During the work day how often do you: Talk to your partner? ALL the time! Email? Sometimes, especially when we need something proofed or we want the other to sign-on in order to IM. Text? We IM CONSTANTLY. Phone? A few times a day. Long conversations or short? We eat lunch together and our conversations are never-ending. To take the words from Hillary Clinton, "We started a conversation a long-time ago and it still goes on today." Particular reasons or just because? All of the above!

  • usually a few times a day on gchat, maybe twice a week for 5 min on the phone.
  • It depends.

L is a gov't contractor on a number of different projects. At some of the sites, she can't have a cell phone and or have access to her personal e-mail account.  On those days we rarely talk (but touch base on our AM/PM commutes.)

On the days when L is driving from one site to another, we chat a lot and usually have lengthy conversations while she drives. Honestly, aside from 9pm at night, it is the only time we have to have an uninterrupted conversation.  This morning I talked with her for 45 min while she sat in traffic. Big Smile

Neither of us text and I don't have access to IM at work.

  • When we are working  we email a couple of times a day we email unless we are really busy.  I can't really talk on the phone and S doesn't like to talk on the phone.  I do call on my way home from work at 3ish and S calls on her way home.  Though some days we do talk more.

  • We'll email once or twice, but don't normally call unless there is something specific we wanted to ask about and get a quick answer... or if we're running late on our way home.

  • J and I talk a LOT. We chat on gmail, more than would be considered healthy, and we text back and forth quite a bit all day. She calls me on her lunch for a quick hello, and I call her on mine. We pretty much communicate all day.

  • We primarily communicate via gchat during the day while she's at work, usually at least once, sometimes more and sometimes throughout. I'll call her sometimes if I have a question, but she doesn't like to talk on the phone in general and esp not at work. When I'm out in the evening I call her before coming home.

  •    My wife and I never get enough of talking to each other so we usually talk on the phone during our drives to work, we email once we arrive just to let the other know we're there. We also have short chats via email throughout the day and we take lunch at the same time so we can talk on the phone. We get off around the same time so we talk during our drives home as well. People always tease and say we spend too much time talking to one another but we happily disagree.

  • We talk a lot during the day. S gets bored driving from one appointment to the next and she likes to make sure I am managing okay with the girls. We will text once in a while too.
