adobe

Does anyone know the deal with buying adobe student version? Do you just send everything in to them like your student id? Can you email it? Does the person who is going to be using it have to be the name on the card? Or can someone else purchase? TIA!

Re: adobe

  • I got mine at the campus bookstore so I don't know. But have you tried searching their site?
  • I am not sure how it works buying it from the website. You can buy the student versions at colleges and universities. Each school will determine if you need an student ID to buy it. In order to install you send Adobe your personal infomation which includes your school, major, year of graduation, etc.
  • I bought the Creative Suite 2 a few years ago when it came out - I work full time at a University and take one class at a time (when I feel like it).  They had me send in a copy of my ID and "proof of affiliation" with the institution, so I sent in a copy of my most recent pay stub, showing 37.5 hours per week of work. They email you the unlock code and you have your software. :-)

I'm not sure about the who buys it vs. who uses it because I bought it, I installed it on my laptop, *I* am the one who uses it... never hurts to email them and just ask if their website doesn't answer the question...

  • When I bought mine I had to fax in a copy (front & back) of my current student ID card
Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • awesome!!! thanks all!

I actually do some work with Adobe, and can help you out!

The Student Editions for Creative Suite 4 can be purchased for up to 80% of the price of the full versions, and they DO require you to prove eligibility by e-mail or fax.  To do that, you must provide a valid, current student ID that includes name/date/photo - if you don't have that, you need a valid photo ID along with one piece of evidence of current enrollment - a nonphoto student ID, current transcript, tuition bill, report card, or something else along those lines.

You can find all the info you need on the Student Editions at http://studenteditions.adobe.com!

Does the same apply to faculty, as in public school faculty?

The Student Editions of Adobe Creative Suite 4 are only for students - and the "Student Editions" are only for higher education students.

Pricing varies depending on whether or not you're higher ed or K-12 - you can follow the link here to figure out which discount you're eligible for: http://store4.adobe.com/cfusion/store/html/index.cfm?store=OLS-EDU&event=displayEduConditions

    Hopefully that helps!
