Made the move safely! (and a question)
Hi ladies!
I made it safely to my new house yesterday- although driving a Uhaul with a car trailer, a dog, and a cat was definitely an experience! I've decided that New Mexico has to be my forever home because I don't ever want to move again!
I start my new job on Monday and am so excited! I found out yesterday that I will be traveling to Boston the week after next for some training....so I had a question for ladies with pets. Any recommendations for pet sitters? I am hoping I can find someone who will come to my house 2x a day and feed/walk/play with the dog. Let me know!
Thanks!!
Re: Made the move safely! (and a question)
I know of one guy who does pet sitting/walking/running but I don't have his number. Let me see if I can get it. I know he usually likes to meet you and your pets first too. If someone has some other recommendations you may want to try them first b/c I'm not sure when I'll be able to get a hold of my friends to get his number...it'll probably be Tuesday.
GL with the new job!

Glad you made it. Hopefully you had a wind-free trip!
My family always kennels dogs, so no ideas on a pet sitter. I would volunteer, but I'm not a big pet person. I like pets the way I like children - on a case by case basis.
Where in Boston will you be staying? I lived there for 8 years and sometimes still miss it.
LOL Flame- my dog is definitely an acquired taste- he's a little rambunxious! I am going to try to find a reputable place online that is licensed/bonded/etc....my coworker says she might have a person in mind, so hopefully that will work out.
I'm staying at Club Quarters in Boston "2 blocks from Faneuil Hall & Post Office Square" according to the website. My work office National headquarters is in walking distance, so I guess I'll be around there....any suggestions to do/see I'd love! I don't know how much free time I'll have, but I want to try to see some sights!
Faneuil Hall/Quincy Market is a fun area. And you may catch the last bit of Indian Summer in Boston, which was my favorite time of year.
The biggest thing is that Faneuil Hall is a large marketplace - you have shops on the exterior and lots of small vendors in the Marketplace. So it's a great place to window shop.
The Aquarium is right across the street. You can catch a boat tour and go out to the Harbor Islands - one of my favorite places in Boston. You also are right across the street from the North End - the Italian neighborhood in Boston. You can get any kind of Italian food in the stores and eateries. And Mike's Pastry on Hanover stree, divine cookies and cakes and espresso.
The Freedom Walk also goes through Fanuel Hall. It's a great historic walking tour that winds from the Commons to Quincy Market to Old Ironsides.. If you are a runner/walker, go walk around the Emerald Necklace - the Esplanade, Boston COmmons, the Fens, etc. Great scenery and greenery.
You can go by DOwntown Crossing, which is the shopping center of Boston. Lots of great people watching. Near Copley Place, you have the Prudential. We always went to the Top of the Hub for tea or desserts. Great views.
Chinatown is also a lot of fun. There are some great hole-in-the wall eateries and stores.
Of course the day that I'd normally see the guy that I know who does pet sitting, he wasn't around. I'll keep trying to get a hold of him though.
I know you said you'd like someone who goes to your house, but if you decide to board your dog, my parents have used Canine Country Club. I know for sure there's a westside location, but I think there's one in Los Ranchos too.
The guy I know works at my running shop and I'm friends with the owners...I'm going to shoot them an email and see if I can get in touch with him that way.

Thanks Duff! Let me know if you hear anything!
My new boss is actually hopefully coming through for me- I work for a non profit that employs about 24 people straight out of college- so she sent an email on my behalf tonight to see if anyone was interested in earning a little extra cash. Hopefully something pans out!
