Cirque de Soleil

If any of you have a chance to go see Cirque de Soleil Alegria at BJC I highly recommend it!!!  I went and saw it this afternoon with my students and it was so good....in fact it was so good since DH and I are going to Pitt this coming weekend we are going to see it because it is going to be there next!

Re: Cirque de Soleil

  • Have you seen any of their resident (non-traveling) shows in Vegas or Orlando?  I'm wondering how Alegria compares.  I went to the show they had at the BJC 2 (?) years ago - I think it was Saltimbanco - and while it was a great show, I swore I'd never see a traveling Cirque show again because it just couldn't compare with the resident shows I've seen.

  • I would love to see a Cirque show.  I remember my French teacher in high school showing us video of some of the original Cirque shows and I always thought it was so amazing what they did.
  • That's funny...I took my students yesterday!

I saw Zumanity in Vegas and I found this show to be very comparable (albeit more family friendly).  The only element they didn't use was the water element.  They had the trapeze, trampoline, fire twirler, bouncing boards, and lots of other great effects plus some clowns who were very funny.

Cool, maybe it was just the one traveling show that just didn't impress me.  I love love love Zumanity!  If you ever get out to Vegas again, I'd highly recommend Mystere as well.  I've seen it like 5 times and it never gets old!

  • DH and I saw "La Nouba" in Orlando while we were on our honeymoon.  It was amazing!  We have 2 of their DVD's and really like of both of shows, too!
  • We saw KA in Vegas at the end of July when we were there on vacation.  Absolutely fantastic and very family friendly!!  Also saw Phantom and it blew me away!!!  Highly recommend both shows if anyone gets out to Vegas!!
