party to meet the neighbors

hey everyone I need some ideas to meet the neighbors, I admit I'm totally shy but need to get out and meet some people.  How do I do that without looking totally desperate for some friends here? Ugh

Re: party to meet the neighbors

  • We just had a neighborhood cookout to meet the neighbors.  I live on a cul-de-sac.  We had one neighbor who was outgoing and found out who wanted to bring what.  You could simply send out invites saying bring your favorite dish and host a potluck hangout.
  • I like the cook-out idea, or you can have a smaller gathering, like dessert and drinks by the fire (if you have a fire pit that you can use). Just say something like: "Come and mingle over drinks and dessert. Old and new friends are welcome!" And just have it around 7:30-ish in the evening so you don't have the pressure to serve dinner if you don't want to. Simpler to manage, and tends to be shorter.

  • I wouldn't have it be a potluck. People that don't want to cook something won't come. I like drinks and dessert.  You may also want to say "children welcome" if you know your neighbors have kids.
