Visiting Scottsdale for the 1st time

Hey,

We will be in Scottsdale at a resort spa this week but are looking for other activities to do in the area.  Any suggestions for fun outdoors activites, tourist attractions, restaurants, spas, and lounges/bars?

TIA!

Just married in Chicago...woo-hoo! :)

Re: Visiting Scottsdale for the 1st time

  • Congratulations!!!

As for outdoor activites, golf is #1, there are hundreds of golf courses.  Since the weather is actually going to be nice this week (in the '80's) you could go horseback riding in Cave Creek, or if you have a rental car (which you probably should, Scottsdale is very sprawled) a drive up to Sedona would be really nice.  If you like to hike, Camelback is a great hike.  There's a ton of great dining and bars in Scottsdale, I like a lot of stuff around Old Town.  That's also a good area to do tourist-y shopping during the day.  Kierland Commons, Desert Ridge and City North are also great places for shopping and dining.  There are some fun cowboy bars/restuarants in Cave Creek, as well as tourist-y type shopping (it's like an old west town).  For a fun, casual outdoor dining experience we like to take out of towners to Greasewood Flats in North Scottsdale- you sit outside at picnic tables, by a big bonfire, listening to a one-man-band play country music, and feel like you're in the middle of the desert, despite being surrounded by million dollar homes.  Almost all of the resorts have thier own spas, so it's fairly easy to find one.  I know the Golden Door at the Bolders is really nice.

I assume you're coming for your honeymoon, have a great trip!!!

  • I agree with the previous post, summed it up really well!  Greasewood is fun and the bonfire is great when it gets a little chilly at night.  Sedona is beautiful!  We have lived here for 8 months and still loving going up there.

Congrats on your wedding and enjoy your trip, you picked a great time to be out here!!
