Weekend Recaps?

How was everyone's weekend?

Re: Weekend Recaps?

  • As I just posted below, our weekend highlights were our offer and insem, but we did other stuff too. On Saturday, I met with some friends who are planning a fundraiser--a burlesque show as a kick-off to a huge backpacking trip on the Pacific Crest Trail next year. I'm helping them out and it should be fun!

In the afternoon C and I hung out and then took a nap (I love naps!), before I went and babysat for two adorable girls--2 and 4 years old.

Sunday morning we got the condo ready and went to Costco while a real estate agent brought people over for a showing. As soon as we got back another realtor called about an afternoon showing. We have to take Kai (and all his toys, bowls, etc) out so we did this again and went for a walk. The next few hours were a whirlwind as they prepared and made and offer. We ended up accepting it at about 8:00pm last night!

After callling all our family, I made a late dinner and we relaxed before our late night--and not exactly as planned--insem. I think the timing is pretty good, so now we just have to see what happens. More info to come on my blog.

  • We spent the weekend relaxing, hanging with friends, doing some household chores and baking. It was a really great weekend. I'm sad it's over!

  • Friday - K went out after work with co-workers but I was tired so I stayed home and watched movies.  At the party K told everyone about the baby, including the big big boss who was apparently thrilled and immediately starting asking K twenty questions.

Saturday - I don't remember.  Oh - I cleaned the 1st floor of the house and did laundry while K worked on her dissertation.  Later we ran errands and then snuggled up on the couch for movie time.

Sunday - After cleaning the gameroom (basement) I went to a local apple orchard while K got back to her dissertation.

Wow - what a boring weekend - lol!

  • Friday was a clusterf&%$@. Somehow we'd forgotten to hang all of the clothes we were selling at consignment (I have no idea how we forgot this, since we have sold at 6 previous sales) - anyhow L got everything hung up and headed to volunteer/deliver our stuff. She called and had forgotten the check to purchase and the volunteer coordinators were giving her a hard time for not delivering our stuff early. Sigh. I picked up the kids from school (having to stop 2x on the Parkway for potty breaks), got cash, and went to help unload our stuff. I'd planned on taking the kids to dinner, but Carter had an accident and I didn't have any clean clothes (insert lots of crying and whining from the kids.) We stopped at Mickey Ds (it was late and I was exhausted) and since I was craving a cheeseburger, I got one of those new Angus burgers, took one bite and threw the rest away. Ewwww. Got the kids to bed early, busted tail around the house, and got them winter coats online from Lands End for 30% off. YAY!

Saturday was sports class (well, in and around 5 potty breaks. Sigh.) Then to a fall festival/fair. It was really warm in the sun - but the kids had fun and were exhausted by the time we left a bit after 1. Drove to the school to pick up our stuff that didn't sell (there was very little left! YAY!) and then home (with a pit stop on 495 (think busiest highway in DC). sigh.) L and I really wanted to go to dinner, but Carter refused to get dressed (he'd stripped off his clothes), so L and Gray went to Pei-Wei and Carter and I stayed home to take a bath, get in comfy jammies, and play trains. He just needed some home time, I guess.

Sunday we took the boys to their first movie in a theater, Toy Story (we just stayed for the first one) and they did awesome. I was worried about Gray since he doesn't like loud noises, but after the initial shock wore off, he was fine and downed a ton of popcorn. Home for much needed family nap and then dinner at our fav Mexican place. L and I caught up on DVR.

  • Friday: quiet evening in...lots of cooking/baking/cleaning.

Saturday: had tons of fun at the Big E, then another quiet evening in w/ more baking and 2 movies on dvd

Sunday: Red Sox! gorgeous day for a ball game!

  • Friday- PBS had to get her shots. Luckily, she didn't have as bad a reaction as last time. Only a small fever. Our new doctor didn't even make a fuss when I asked about spreading them out and preservative free vaccines.

Saturday-I finally got some time away for the first time in  over 5 months! My mom took me shopping for my birthday and out to lunch. It was only a few hours away but it was really nice.

Sunday- We planned to go to the duck park but there was a fire in our area. The air quality was awful and it was really noisy with all the sirens etc. We had to stay in.

  • fri, dog park & couch

sat, i had rugby, then bailed on the social and C&I went clothes shopping

sunday, we bought stuff to finish the den, did more shopping, cooked :)

  • Friday I had an amazing job interview, and was offered the job.... and then she clarified what my degree was in and since I don't have a 4 year degree, she couldn't hire me.  She's checking to see if corporate will make an exception.  I was so bummed.  Not holding out much hope for corporate.

My show on Saturday was a lot of fun.  I got to talk to a lot of interesting people and hear oodles of compliments on my work (always nice!).  I don't expect anything to come out of it, as far as new work, but you never know.  Then we were gifted two tickets to the fundraiser harvest dinner afterwards, so it was nice not to have to cook!

Sunday was my best friend's baby shower.  Even though the organizers don't like "stupid shower games" they had us play them.  Of course, they thought they were "so creative and original!" but seriously... I've had to sniff and guess the contents of many preemie diapers at showers over the years. Nothing fun, interesting, or original about it. Ugh.   Aside from that, it was really nice to see my friend showered with affection and to see the stuff people picked out for her.  It was a nice mix of handmade and registry items.

I was out all day Friday, and got to see 2 sets of friends I don't see often.  Then out all day Saturday, seeing more friends and a lot of community members. Then all day at the shower and another friend's house yesterday.  I am so exhausted and feel like I haven't been home in forever!  Although, it was super nice to catch up with so many friends.

  • Friday - couch, tv

Saturday - C had to meet with her group to work on a project for grad school. I did laundry and napped.  That night we went out for dinner, then lounged at home.

Sunday - We went out for breakfast, then a little shopping, then a nap for me and then grocery shopping together.  Then we came home to do some cooking for the week, and the one thing I wanted most (meatloaf) turned out to be a disaster - both containers of frozen meat we had were discolored and overall looked nasty, even though they were not that old and there was no apparent reason for them to have gone bad!!  I was so bummed and feeling sick/tired/nauseous to boot.  C made a couple of other things, but I am so bummed about that meatloaf!!
