Does anyone have any good recommendations for a restaurant on the river or in the marina? Something with a deck that has a great summertime atmosphere? I am missing home and this would help!
Re: Dining on a deck?
The food isn't spectacular, by any means, but Salty's on the Columbia & Newport Bay & the Pilsner Room down on the waterfront (SW Pdx) all have waterfront dining.
Off Macadam is Who Song & Larry's (now a diff. name, I believe). Bad Mexican food but they have a nice deck for margaritas.
Beaches is on the Vancouver side of the Columbia. No clue about the food.
Blinn's is in L.O. We heard that it might be gone now though so ??
The Ram in Lake Oswego has happy hour on the outside deck as well! (very rare to find oustide happy hour in Portland)
Newport Seafood Grill is my favorite place, the do brunch on Sundays, and lunch and dinner, their dock is great and it floats on the Willamette!
Another suggestion -- Lucier. We went there last night and they have a gorgeous deck (in the bar area). Good food but it can add up so be aware. A margarita will cost you $14 (they are good).
It's down on the waterfront. To get there, head towards the Pilsner Room and then take a right at the circle drive, then take a left & then another left (you almost feel like you're driving on a sidewalk). Leave your car with the valet and there you go.
