Flu Shots?

Who is getting one?  If so, do you usually?

I've never had one, and had zero plans to.  I'm just wondering if anyone is taking the plunge when they don't normally.

I've never had a full out flu and worry that it would be just my luck that I get it the year I do get the shot...

Re: Flu Shots?

  • I've only ever gotten the shot like twice, when my work required it.

I do get sick about once or twice a year but never anything serious. So I will pass. Just keep taking my vitemins, eating healthy and getting plenty of rest.

  • I'm getting H1N1 and the flu vaccines. One, I'm "high risk" since I'm pregnant. Two, I travel quite a bit for work and my travel takes me to oncology clinics/hospitals and those patients are high risk too. I go to the doctor to get poked at the end of the month.
  • I'm not planning on getting it. I don't think I ever have gotten one. Is it bad that I'm not 100% sure of my health records? I haven't been to a family doctor in like 3 years!

  • I've never had one and have no plans to get one.
  • I got 1, one year in college but that was it. I don't like them and don't even think they work. lol

I will not be getting one.

  • I never have received a flu shot ever but I am thinking about getting it because of the  H1N1 thing only because our work is giving it to us for free and I travel a lot. But its still up in the air right now.

  • I got one here at work a few years ago because they were offering them free.  I never had gotten one before and just decided to.  Well, within a few hours of getting it, I got HORRIBLY sick.  Some other people have told me that the same thing happened to them.  I haven't gotten one since.
  • I am getting the regular flu shot...I get one every year through work.  Since I'm around really sick old people all the time its probably not a bad idea!  Mayo Clinic actually makes their employees sign a waiver if they do not want to receive the vaccine.

As for the H1N1...I'm not really sure.  We don't even know if we'll have them available so I guess I'll see when the time comes.  But if there are not enough for everyone, I'd pass and let someone who is pregnant or has young childen at home get one before I did.

  • Until last year, I've never got a flu shot, even though my doctor and allergist always recommend it (I have asthma).  I got a flu shot last May because I was traveling to S. America over the summer and it was flu season there.

At the time, I was glad I got the shot... although I have no idea if it prevented anything.  When we first arrived at our layover in Panama about half of the people at the airport had masks on and I had the pleasure of watching a lady vomit all over the bathroom floor.

Since the shot lasts for a year, I should be covered... I am worried that this will be the year I get sick.

  • I'm getting my first one ever tomorrow.  I've been thinking about getting a flu shot (not H1N1) and since I'm here at our Corporate office, they're having someone come in to administer them- so it's super easy.

     We'll see how it goes!

  • I've never had one and I don't really plan on it either since I'm fairly healthy.  I usually do end up getting some little bug at least once during the season just because DH gets exposed to a lot of stuff in his job.  He did get the flu shot though so hopefully that will help.

  • I have never had one and I do not plan on ever having one. No offense. That is just my choice. Our bodies our miraculous machines. Trust your body. I would recommend to anyone considering this shot or any others to do their homework first. There are no wrong choices. It is all about being an informed consumer. Know your risks.
  • I get flu shots!  I got the flu once and thought I was going to die, that and I've been preggo/nursing/have infant will travel that last few years.  It doesn't freak me out really and I'm all for not getting sick.
