Zone 5b/6--would you?

I'm seeing perennial sales on the internet, and I'm sure my fave nursery has some deals. Would you risk putting something in this late in the season?

Re: Zone 5b/6--would you?

  • Hi!  I am in zone 6a and I would plant perennials soon, but they say you can plant shrubs/trees anytime the ground isn't frozen!
  • Supposedly, they ship when it is the right time to plant. I risked it with a few things this year. I was buying bulbs anyway, so I tacked on some lavender and some russian sage just for fun.

Although, I have had bad luck with it in the past. I know the bulbs will grow, but the rest is a gamble. The place I ordered it from will guarantee that it will live for a year though. We will see.

  • Yes!

  • I wouldn't, but I'm more 5a/5b and we're going to get down into the low 30s overnight next week.  You might be able to get a couple weeks in yet.
