Novice Indoor Garden Ideas?

My hubby and I live in an apartment. However, I like foliage and want to have some type of indoor garden. We don't have a ton of sunlight, so I'm trying to find plants that would thrive indoors without much sunlight.

Anyone have any good ideas? I have a basil plant I bought from Trader Joe's, and that seems to be holding up pretty well...What else?

Re: Novice Indoor Garden Ideas?

  • wow, basil usually needs a fair amount of sunlight...

African violets thrive under bright, indirect light.  I also have what was labeled a "friendship" plant that survives (rather well) in almost complete darkness.  And, spider plants enjoy low light conditions.  I've had a fair amount of success with a "money tree" in indirect light (not terribly sunny either)

  • Yeah, I know its weird the basil plant is holding up amazingly well.

Great! Thanks for the tips! I'm going to go make a Lowe's run later.
