Please and thxu. I am on the hunt.

Re: Gimme your pulled pork (crockpot) and sloppy joe recipes

  • I have a yummy sloppy joe recipe at home, I will try to remember to post it tonight.  It isn't crockpot though, but it is easy.

How are you doing?  When does Matt have his testing?

  • I'm doing okay. Matt went Saturday morning for his bloodwork. So we're just kind of hanging out and waiting to hear. I'm not sure exactly when we would hear, I assume this week.
  • I hope that you don't have to wait too long! I'm thinking of you guys.  Please post when you know the results.
  • I definitely will, no worries. Hopefully, the MD won't make me wait until our appt. next week.
  • i use the pp recipe thats in the back of the nestie cookbook.  do you have that?  its wicked good, but instead of water, i add apple juice....

    i *think its

    1c apple juice

garlic powder, pepper and onion powder

cook low for 8 hours but i can double check.  wicked good and falls apart and is still moist!

let me know if you need it because i will get it for you

  • Brown a pound of ground beef. Dump in a can of Manwich. :)

Seriously, I would love to see the recipes for pulled pork too!

  • kim, i don't know what cut of meat you're using?
  • Hi PA nestie here (posted a q above - help me!)

The easiest recipe I have (I have about 3) and the one that gets the biggest raves:

     pork tenderloin any size

root beer - enough to cover pork

slow cook on low 8 hours.

drain, shred with forks and mix lightly with fave bbq sauce.

this winds up with a hint of sweetness and you can vary flavor more by the bbq sauce.  I make my own sauce for ribs but this works fine with a bottled brand.  I had people devour this faster than any other recipe i have ever used

  • I use a brisket with a bottle of hannaford apple bbq sauce and a bottle of water in the slow cooker. We like it ontop of cornbread with coleslaw on the side. yummy.
  • for my pulled pork I don't really have a recipe...

    pork butt or shoulder roast

dry rub seasoning(I have a pepper blend I use)

1-2 bottles beer(depending on how big the roast & your crockpot are)

grape jelly(half a small jar maybe)

    1/2 bottle bbq sauce

Melt jelly in crockpot, add roast, then cover with dry rub...top with beer and bbq and cook on low for 8 hours...shred with two forks.  I sometimes will take the sauce out of the crockpot and thicken it in a sauce pan and return the meat to it, but DH usually prefers plain meat then tops it with BBQ on his sandwich.  I top my sandwich with coleslaw and BBQ mmmm, might have to make that soon!

  • crap I forgot the slopy joe "recipe" it's a more a method too LOL!

    1 lb ground beef

    1 lg can crushed tomatoes

    yellow mustard

    brown sugar

    worcestershire sauce

Brown beef, and tomatoes, about 1/8-1/4 c brown sugar(go easy you can always add more), 2-3 tbsp worcestershire sauce and a couple small squirts of mustard...simmer uncovered until thickened(about 15 minutes) Adjust to your tastes and they are best served on potato buns with potato puffs on the side! Mmm might have to have these soon too haha!

  • My sister makes an awesome pulled pork!!  I called her last week to get the recipe and was surprised to find out that she actually uses a McCormick slow cooker seasoning pack!

    http://www.mccormick.com/productdetail.cfm?id=11718

She recommends cooking on low for 8 hours.
