Re: If you have a canon rebel

  • What kind do you have?  I have a Canon Rebel XT, I don't really use it much anymore since I upgraded to a Canon 5D Mark II.  It's a rather old model (2005-2006)

Do you like it?  I loved it, it was a great starter camera.  As I learned more about photography I outgrew it but that took a good three years.  And it still was working great, I just wanted to do MORE.

What lenses do you use? I bought mine with the kit lens, after that I added a 70-300 IS, 20mm f/2.8, 50mm 1.8, 100mm f/2.8 macro, 24-70 f/2.8L, 50mm 1.2L  all Canon (no third party lenses) I did a post on my blog about them here.

Your favorite lens?  My favorite is probably a tie between the 24-70, which is so versatile, and very sharp and my 100mm macro which is also super sharp and allows me to do my favorite type of photography, macro, and the bokeh is so smooth on both.

Anything you'd like to add about the rebel?  If you look at my blog, any pictures taken before Dec 2008 but after August 2006 were probably taken with the XT, you can also see a lot in my flickr stream XT images I think it was a great camera.  If I was looking at a rebel right now, I would probably look at the T1i.

  • I look forward to pouring through Michelle's post!

I've got an XT which I bought in late 2005, upgrading to digital from my original SLR Rebel which I got in 1991.  I've lately been toying with looking into a more modern upgrade, but we'll see.

My 2 main lenses are a 75-300 and a 28 - 135.  Both have image stabilizer, which I recommend, though it makes the lenses significantly heavier.   I find I use the 28 - 135 the most, but I'm definitely in the market to try a few new lenses, so I'm probably thinking about 2010 being a new investment year in some of my equipment (hence... pouring over Michelle's blog!)
