Quick, beaches????

I am wanting to take my kids to the beach tomorrow.  What is the closest beach to Union Station??  We are planning on taking the train down and then walk to the beach.  Any suggestions?

Re: Quick, beaches????

  • um...none are really "close."   especially if you are looking for sand.   the lake around downtown is all concrete.   there is a small beach area by the museum campus, but its not the nicest.  otherwise, i think Oak Street beach may be your best bet.    but i wouldn't consider that walking distance with kids.

    Because we're fancy like that.

Anyhow, I thought I would chime in on your beach quest. With kids, from Union Station, you can walk to the Sears Tower and jump on one of those free red trolleys. That will take you to Navy Pier and fairly easy walking distance with smaller kids to Oak Street Beach. Have fun!
