What else...(very long vent)

OMG...I have had the most terrible day of my entire life.  You couldn't make this stuff up if you were writing a book.  I know I can vent here because you guys are awesome.  Any other board would call MUD so fast, I wouldn't even be finished writing my post.

First I wake up this morning to bright red spotting...I have since found out that it could be normal but I didn't do it with Ari so it scared me to death.  So I call the office to ask if it was normal and what to do.  They call me back to tell me that "Well since you never saw our midwife we cannot give you any medical advice." WHAT!!!  I am pregnant and spotting and you can't tell me if it's normal or not!!! So I try not to worry and take Ari to storytime at the library.  I get home and spotting later turns to brown so I decide that I need to find out where the stupid midwife transferred me to.  I call Winnie Palmer and finally find out that they have my files but cannot give me any information or medical advice either because a dr there has not seen me yet!  ARE YOU SERIOUS!  OK so technically I don't have a dr. right now.  She says it take 7-10 days to get an appointment.  So I wait.  I am not cramping so hopefully everything is normal.  I am just anxious I guess because I didn't have to wait so long last time to be sure everything was going ok.  So I decided to go make Ari and myself a snack so I go downstairs.

My ILs have a water system on their sink for drinking water but their ice is horrible (they have well water) so I usually put a big pitcher of water in the fridge so it's cold to drink.  So I saw a jug of water on the counter last night so I put it in the fridge to get cold.  (it is common that other people will fill jugs ups for me if there is not one in the fridge.)  I go to get some water and take a big gulp of it.  All of a sudden my throat is burning and it was horrid tasting.  IT WAS BLEACH!!!  WHY IS THERE BLEACH IN A DRINKING CONTAINER???  AND WHEN YOU DON'T SEE YOUR CONTAINER OF BLEACH SITTING WHERE YOU LEFT IT, WHY DIDN'T YOU ASK ABOUT IT???

I am so upset right now.  I called poison control and everything should be okay but I can't help but sit here and worry that it won't.  My throat hurts, my chest is starting to hurt, I'm home alone with Ari and DH has at least an hour drive to get here.  I not really upset at the person who did it, because I know it was not on purpose.  But seriously, can my day get any worse...

I guess the silver lining to this story (since I should always find one) is that I was sitting in the kitchen crying because I was so upset and Ari thought I was playing a game with the sound of the sniffing.  He was laughing so hard everytime I sniffed and he would try to do it too...lol  Silly kid!

Thanks for letting me vent ladies...it's time for me to call poison control back to update them on how I feel and my throat is feeling a tiny bit better now.

Thanks for listening.

Re: What else...(very long vent)

  • I just want to give you a great big hug! I don't have any advice about the spotting but know that I will be thinking of you. I hope your day gets better!
  • Holy crap!  You have had a very bad day.  I hope everything turns out ok and I will be thinking of you!
  • That sounds like an awful day. Hope tomorrow is better.
  • OMG!!! You can't make that sh!t up! I am so sorry. That would have freaked me out fo sho!

As far as the spotting, I would never tell you that it is nothing BUT I did have very similar spotting in my 1st tri that was nothing. It is very normal. That does suck that noone would see you though.

  • I had spotting in my first trimester and it sounded like yours. I did talk to the doctor at the time and they said it was completely normal. That sometimes your body just gets rid of some old blood. As long as there isn't clots or bright red they said it was ok. I am not a doctor so if you are worried you should go see someone.
  • Oh wow... I can't believe bleach was left on the counter in a jug! I really hope your week goes well until you can see the doctor. Just try to take it easy (but I know how hard that can be with a 11 month old).

I hope you start feeling better

  • Sorry you had such a day! Sending HUGS your way!

  • Ohmygosh you poor thing!  Is today going better for you?

As far as the doctor...I hate to say this but I would think about finding another.  Just because you go to a high risk doctor doesn't mean they don't see you anymore.  You still have to have a primary OB/midwife.  The perinatologist is an additional doctor.  I can't believe they wouldn't see you or give you advice.  That is horrible.  I have heard a lot of stories of people spotting, so I hope yours is just "normal".

And the bleach thing...OMG, that would have freaked me out too!  I'm so glad poison control said everything should be fine.

I asked in your last post which perinatologist you're going to and it sounds like you're going to MFM at Winnie.  I was with Dr. Carlan (and the rest of them) for my entire pregnancy with Rylie and the first half with Bryce.  (My OB transferred me to Dr. Fuentes after my amnio.)  But they are all great docs there.  I had a scare and had to have an amnio with them and I felt very comfortable with the practice.

Thanks, I feel a lot better.  I actually won't be seeing the midwife at all anymore.  They will be my main dr at WP.  My husband and I are thinking about just not seeing any of them and going back to my old OB.  We are not sure yet.

I had to go to MFM there last time too, but I don't remember my dr.  I believe they also have an office right outside the hospital that you go to for your regular appts.  We will see.

Oh I didn't realize that people went to them for their main doctor.  I just went every 4 weeks for my growth ultrasounds and still kept going to my regular OB too.  Do they deliver babies too?

  • I am not sure how it all works yet.  Last time I did have a regular OB outside of Winnie Palmer and I only had to visit MFM 3 or 4 times.  I do know that Winnie Palmer has an OB/GYN office that sees woman on a regular basis and delivers babies there because I called them before I picked my midwife but they were not accepting new cash paying clients at that time.

  • OMG! I'm so sorry to read all this. I agree with Deb. You can't make up stories like this. I hope your doing better today... sending hugs your way!
  • OMG! That was a horrible day. I'm so sorry you had to go through all of that. I'm glad that you are feeling better though. ((HUGS)) Smile
