Who carpools?

I work almost 25 miles (each way) from my home. I recently started carpooling (every other week) with a woman who lives down the street, and i'm figuring it's going to save each of us about $50 a month! I LOVE knowing that my car is sitting in one spot all day! Anyone else doing this?

Re: Who carpools?

  • I wish I could.  I work 60 miles from home.  My poor car is very tired by the end of a week.
  • We do sometimes.  DH & I work about 10 minutes away from each other, and we have started driving in together about twice a week.  We would do it more, but the problem is that DH doesn't have a set schedrule, so he never knows when he is going to get out of work.  One time we carpooled and he didn't get out until 8:30!   It made for a very long day, because I go in for 7:30!  We try to carpool on the days he knows his schedrule a bit more and knows he will get out at a decent hour.
  • DH does.  We live in Manch and he works in Boston.  He carpools with 3 other guys so it's nice because he's only driving once a week and twice a week every 4th week.  PLUS, they have to pay to park in Beantown so not only are we saving gas money, but he's not having to pay almost $20.00 to park every day.  It's a great gig for them.
  • I wish I could, but no one I work with lives close to me. I travel just over 20 miles each way too.

DH just started carpooling with a guy that lives like 5 minutes from us. They are saving a bunch of money too. And it's nice that he's not putting as many miles on the car too.

  • DH and I work right down the street from each other.  We carpool on some days when we don't have the kids.  If we have the kids, he leaves the house later than I do and goes home earlier.  Carpooling with him is difficult when he has to be in Court too.  But we do it whenever we can.

  • I wish I could carpool! I won't be driving to work for a while now, but during the school year it costs an arm and a leg!
  • I wish I had someone to carpool with.  I work abotu 35 miles from home each way.  It really does eat up the gas and put the miles on the car very quickly.  I think when I go back to work in September I am going to really try and find someone to carpool with.

  • I only work 12.5 miles from home so there isn't anyone else who drives by here, but I have started to ride my bike occasionally.
