Why did I do it?

Last night, I got home from work to find glass shattered everywhere.  My cat apparently climbed on the pantry and knocked over a vase, which fell onto a large decorative brandy snifter from the wedding.  Of course while trying to clean that up, the dustbuster (our only vacuum) needs to be recharged so I only get half the room clean.  We had to wear our shoes around the house all night.  Then he throws up, but he's a cat, and that's what they do occasionally, only not usually in the middle of the night, on my pillow!  eew.  So I turn on the light to clean up yet another mess, and find out the cat is having an asthma attack.  After giving him his meds and making sure he was okay, I was finally able to get back to sleep.

Why oh why did I ever get a cat?

Re: Why did I do it?

  • Oh my goodness! I love cats, but your cat reminds me of my last cat...a troublemaker :) Hopefully his good outweighs his bad!
  • I personally don't mind cleaning up the kitty puke for those nights when the cats curl up by head, give me headbutts and purr like they couldn't be happier.  Or for the times when I come home from work and they run to the door like I am the best thing they have seen in a lifetime.  It makes it all worth while.

  • Aww. I'm sure you got him because he's got an irresistable little face!

I agree with booney - I wouldn't give up the affection for the world. One of mine sits on tables or shelves and intentionally pushes things off to get a rise out of us. Troublemaker indeed, but usually provides a good laugh.

I'm sorry about your vase and brandy sniffer. Hope everything turned out okay.

  • Man.  Rough night.
  • Easy solution for me, DH and I have an arrangement, he cleans up everything the cats do, hairballs, puke, the litter pan. It's great. They were his cats and that was the only way we were going to have cats. I can't do puke, I throw up myself, and I told him that once I get pregnant or have kids already, I'm not supposed to clean the litter pan, so he should just get used to doing it. Hehehe.
  • aww, rough night is right! I agree, it's worth it, but that was a total "when it rains it pours" kinda situation and I'd be irked too!

also, Jodi, every time I see your sig pic I lol :)

  • Hehehe...Max is such a fatty. He's the sweetest kitty in the world though.
