Charleston ladies!

Hi ladies!  Popping over from the North FL board and I was sure that you guys got this a lot, but I looked back a few pages and didn't see too much about visiting specifics.

My H and I are visiting Charleston for our anniversary next month and have heard great things, but we know nothing about the area!  Any rec's for where to stay, where to eat, what to do during the day, what to do at night would be much appreciated!  Thanks ladies!

Re: Charleston ladies!

  • mmm. not sure where to tell you to stay.. but i can def give you some restaurant recs!

Carolina's- fabulous happy hour if you make it, but also amazing dinner. this is my favorite restaurant in Chas and have had nothing but fabulous experiences there. amazing service. amazing food. simply the best.

Cost- if you want seafood go here, it's right off of King street on John street. great atmosphere, but kind of loud. food is phoenom. especially the braised grouper- if you go you MUST get it!

The Lost Dog- it's on folly beach, and is really cheap little breakfast/ lunch place. delish! especially their parfait and quiche :) they have daily specials, and you can bring your doggie and sit outside!

Social- nice little wine bar off of east bay, great night time bar if you don't want something colleg-y which happens alot down here.. college kids are everywhere on the weekends, but during the week nights you can pretty much go wherever. if you're a wine drinker, def. try social.

Hope you have an amazing time!

  • My downtown favorite restaurants are:

    1) The Peninsula Grill (The Planter's Inn is also an amazing boutique hotel)

    2) S.N.O.B

    3) High Cotton

    4) Hank's

    5) Basil (Thai)

Chai's Lounge (next to Basil) is also a really fun hang-out. It's a tapas bar and it may be really nice to sit outside and mingle with the cool Fall weather. Getting a drink on the Rooftop Bar at the Market Pavilion Hotel may also be worth it for the view and experience although I haven't been too impressed with the drinks there.

    HTH! Have so much fun!

  • The Andrew Pinckney Inn is a great place to stay, and it's near everything.

    Favorite restaurants:

    Cypress- 4-star and really nice

    Sermet's Corner

    High Cotton

    McCrady's

The Boulevard Diner and The Post House in Mt. Pleasant

I've also heard great things about 82 Queen, SNOB, and Basil

  • Wow, these are awesome ideas!  Thanks very much!

  • I like FIG, Grill 225, Cypress, Mercato, Josephs and Fleet Landing for casual lunch.

There are so many good places to eat downtown. FIG is probably my one of my favorites.
