What would you do?

I know this isnt the GP board but I was curious as to what you ladies think:

I called my OB/GYN on a Monday regarding my cycles. I was scheduled for an appointment the next day. Amazing. I was highly impressed.  Well, the doctor was over an hour and half late in seeing me. I was very frustrated to say the least. I wasted my sick leave for nothing. I really could have left work at my regular time and still made the appointment.  But I kept my cool. I understand that he may have been delivering a baby and was behind in his appointment.

So fast forward to now. I was told I would get a call regarding my labwork early this week.  On Wednesday I called the office just to check in. I told them I wasnt trying to be annoying, just anxious. And part of me thought they may not call me if everything is okay.  The  nurse was suppose to call me back that day. No call. No call on Thursday. Finally I call back today (Friday) and they were going to have the nurse call me back immediately (that was 9:30am). I started freaking out and called back at 2pm. I didnt want to go the weekend without having the results. Part of me was thinking nothing was wrong with the results - or they would have called right away. And part of me thought they had really bad news to tell me.  Well, they said Im fine. I am very happy, obviously.

But now I am doubting this doctor! Should I stick it or find a new doctor? Its hard to find a new doctor because I already started the process with this doctor. What would you do?

Re: What would you do?

  • Personally, I would find a new dr.  It will be harder to switch drs when you are pregnant, so now is the time to switch.  You can always get a copies of your bloodwork or records from this dr to take to your next one.  In my opinion, you need to feel comfortable & confident with your doctors.  Hope that helps!

  • I would find a new doctor, ASAP. This sounds exactly like my endocrinologist. At first she was moving offices so I thought, "okay I'll give it to the new office." She is still the way you are describing several appointments later. I need a referral to get a new doc and I am doing so this coming week. It is ridiculously annoying and this doctor just deals with my thyroid. I can't imagine dealing with this while pregnant.

I would definitely find a new doctor. However, I would add that waits are pretty common for obgyns, at least in my experience.  Sometimes the doctors have emergencies or surgeries that delay their care.  One time I had to wait two hours for my doctor because she had a last minute delivery.

I have a doctor's appointment today at 10am and a hearing in Pahrump at 1pm, so I'm hoping my doctor is somewhat on time.  If not, I run the risk of being late to my hearing!

By the way, I'm glad to hear everyone is ok.

A small part of me thinks you should name the doctor so other locals know who to avoid.
