Jewelyn's story has really impacted me.....

I heard about Jewelyn on one of the other boards shortly after she passed away. It really shook me because last year I almost died of a pulmonary embolism. And there's really no reason why I lived and others die from it....it happens so quickly and almost instantly. It just so happened that the clots that formed in my lungs ended up in a different area of my lung. It really makes me appreciate my life so much more and put things in perspective. I've actually met up with Matt Logelin too--we had some mutual friends and had talked via email before I had the embolisms, and then we met up shortly after I got out of the hospital.

I also happen to work at UCLA  and know some people who took care of Gabrielle. I heard one of my co-workers talking about a sad story of the patient she was caring for that day and I knew it sounded familiar, so I asked if the baby's name was Gabrielle---and sure enough, it was her.

I've been meaning to make a donation, but am not sure how much I can swing right now. I heard mention of a yard sale. Is there someway I can get information about it and perhaps get more involved that way?

  • The yard sale is on Oct. 18 in Riverside. If you pm G_Lo2be she can give you details.

Thank you for your kindness. The good news in this tragedy is that Gabrielle is doing well and out of the hospital!

  • Hello Emily,

Thanks so much for your kind words. It's amazing how many have been touched by Jewelyn and Gabrielle's story.

I'm so glad to hear that you are doing well and have recovered from you PE. I have had many patients with PE's and it is truly a blessing that you have recovered. It's wonderful to hear a story with a happy ending.

There are many ways people can help out and Jewelyn wouldn't have wanted you to do anything that would put you and your family out.

We are having a yard sale on Sunday Oct 19th in Riverside and have plans to hold more sales in November in Redlands and December.

Any and all donations are welcome. You could bring any of your un-needed items, and see if any of your family and friends have any items to donate.

We also sale baked items at the yard sale or if you just want to come an volunteer your time at the sale you are welmcome. 100% of all mony collected go to the foundation.

If you would like more information please contact me at g_lo2be @ yahoo.com.

Again thank you for your kindness. Jewelyn would be touched by your thoughtfulness.
