another question about vinegar as a cleaner

I was looking at link Ericka posted about the powers of vinegar and there was a note that said it can't be used to clean marble because it's too acidic. Do any of you ladies know if that applies to granite and travertine and limestone also? I wanted to use it on the grout in the shower but we have travertine tiles everywhere in the shower and floors.

Re: another question about vinegar as a cleaner

  • Take this with a grain of salt, since I don't actually have granite/travertine/limestone - this is just what I found in my 5 min of research online lol: you can use a vinegar/water mix, BUT you have to wipe it dry. If you leave it wet, it will eat through the sealant (not usually damaging the stone itself, but you don't want to have to constantly reseal the tiles). This is also why if you spill vinegar, you need to wipe it up right away. Getting it totally dry is apparently something of a PITA, so most places recommend just using a mild soap and water mix, just to be on the safe side.
  • thank you muchness! i hate cleaning! hehe
