Re: New to Louisville
Hi Stephanie! Welcome to Louisville (although you've been here a while). I have lived here just about my whole life. I have a TON of places in mind for you, however I don't know what area of town you live in or what type of activities you like.
When I lived in Louisville, I went to Theresa Hill at Studio 151 on Thierman Lane (off Shelbyville Road). I left Louisville in 2003, so I don't know if she is still there or if her last name has changed.
Some of my favorite Louisville restaurants are The Spaghetti Factory and Harper's. I always enjoyed shopping at The Summit. I always enjoyed going to the science museum and hanging out in some of Louisville's many parks.
Welcome to Louisville Stephanie.
My husband and I are also those who are typically up for anything.
I'll start with restaurants, which seem to be our favorite things to explore.
-Ramsi's (Bardstown Rd. across from Mid City Mall), if there is a wait, go to Carmichael's bookstore around the corner to browse while you wait.
-Havana Rumba is fabulous (but can have a long wait on the weekends) off of Shelbyville Rd. Be sure to have a Mojito.
Others: Kaelin's (very close to you on Newburg Rd.), Stevens and Stevens Deli (Bardstown Rd. and Grinstead Ave.), Famous Dave's Barbeque (Hurstbourne Ln.)
Things to explore: Go ahead and do the touristy things to develop your love for your new city, most of the museums in Louisville are really well done. Kentucky Derby Museum, Louisville Slugger Museum, even the Science Center is pretty fun. The Zoo is also a good place to take a picnic to. Waterfront Park is a great park to go to on a nice day-take a blanket, frisbee, etc. Take in a play at Actor's Theatre-the new season will start in the fall.
I don't know how much you typically spend on your hair, but I go to Vertu, on the corner of Frankfort Ave. and Cannons Ln. A haircut is $40 with my stylist, his name is Jason. I always get compliments on my highlights.
Shopping: The Summit is good for slightly upscale chain stores, The Highlands/Bardstown Rd. is fun for more offbeat, funky stores.
Anyway, where are you going to school and what for?
If you have any more questions, feel free to email me, hope this helps.

I don't know if you'd like this kind of thing but the Louisville Orchestra plays concerts at the zoo every summer and they are about to start. I think it's something fun to do and since they are their pops series it's enjoyable for everyone. Here's the web site if you want more info.

Oh and you're pretty close to the zoo so it would be fairly easy for you to get there.
Emily
As a disclaimer I will say that my dad is in the Orchestra so you can take that for what it is worth.
