I need some local advise

I live in Iowa and I'm the maid of honor in a wedding in San Diego in August.  I'm planning the bride's bachelorette party and having alittle trouble since I don't really know the area.  What I'm thinking is start the afternoon (on a Wednesday) at East Village Tavern & Bowl, then go to dinner, and after maybe go to a couple of cool bars in the Gaslamp area or somewhere else.  If anyone has any suggestions I'm still completely open on places to go and things to do.  Thanks in advance for the help!!

Re: I need some local advise

  • I think that sounds like a great idea.  I really like the East Village Tavern.  I think it would be a really fun idea to go bowling for a bachelorette, but I love bowling.  :)

There are so many great restaurants in the Gaslmap District it really depends on how fancy and how much you want to spend as to where you might whant to go.  I went to Auborgine for my bachelorette and had a great time.  I have not been, but have heard that Stingeree (sp?) is supposed to be really fun (expensive though).  There is J Bar which is on top of hotel Solimar which is awesome and Altitude on top of the Gaslamp Marriott that I also really like.  If you are looking for a cool bar but more casual food Basic is over in the East Village and it has a really great bar and really great pizza.

Let me know if you have other questions.

  • On broadway is fun for a club.

The Yardhouse is a Loud sports bar is is also a favorite of mine.

My sister took me to Lips (a drag queen bar) for mine. It's in SAn Diego, but i'm not sure where. I'd just google it :) It was sooo funny

  • A great place for a bachelorette party dinner is Red Pearl Kitchen...amazing thai/asian food and its family style, so its actually reasonable. Plus the atmosphere is awesome...I've brought a bunch of people there, been to a bach there, and everyone always loves it! Get the drunken man noodles! lol.

East village tavern & bowl is cool...bowling there is super fun but the wait is also super long.

J Bar is a very cool spot for a drink. So is the new Hard Rock hotel...Moonstone Lounge (btu you might need to be on the list...we had a little trouble getting in last time). Haven't been to the Ivy yet, but they have a rooftop bar that is probably fun if you are dressed up and stuff! :)
