canon eos rebel xs/sagemax protection plan?

anyone have this one?  I am new to DSLR and realy want a canon and something simple to use.  Just found this and it has a great price tag and read great reviews for someone "like me".  I am getting ready to order it... any info?

how about the sagemax protection plan?

Re: canon eos rebel xs/sagemax protection plan?

  • I recently bought a rebel and like it so far but (to me) it's not extremely easy to use unless you are just going to shoot on auto.  I'm taking a class to learn how to operate the camera, so you may want to consider that.  Even after reading the entire manual I still have questions and am confused about certain features.  (I will say I'm a hands-on learner and reading instructions don't sink in for me.)

I'm not sure about the sagemax plan, is that like an extended warranty?  Personally, I usually skip those because they don't end up saving much (if any) money.  Most camera places tend to offer 6 months as a standard.

  • Good entry level dSLR.

    I'd skip the protection plan.

  • The manual is not very helpful, but learning photography basics (including terminonlogy and techniques) helps.  Once you start to get the hang of it it's more intuitive to figure out the rest.  There's also "auto" where everything is automatic (even flash) and "program" (P) where you can some control, but it figures out the rest for you.  You can also choose TV or AV where you select one and it chooses an appropriate setting for the other.  There's obviously also full manual, so you have a lot of choices while you are learning.

I only get a protection plan if it covers accidental damage.
