im thinking those felt ornaments....any ideas where to get them in bulk?

Re: toddler friendly xmas tree decor

  • I LOVED those as a kid! still do:) I recall seeing them while browsing     Crate and Barrel's  Outlet'  store  On~line.  Probably not the best suggestion but who know's? good luck

    All you need is love...
  • I bought plastic balls that look like glass, I think they were from Walmart, they come is all colors and some are sparkly.  they come is boxes of 24.  Perfect for the lil toddlers and/or pets.
  • My bigger concern is that he will tip over the tree.  Last year we go a ~4 ft tall tabletop one and put it on the dining room table.  This year he can drap a chair over and climb up on the table though!

Also, he is obsessed with lights so that is going to be fun- not.

I really have no idea what we are going to do.

  • I saw one poster say that they put up a regular tree, on the ground, and decorated it together.  They let their son help put the lights on and made a big deal out of what a help he was.  He also got his own ornaments to put on.  They said that because he took part, he probably felt proud and did not want to destroy what he did?  I do not know becuase we do not have kids, but this sounded good to me.

  • Have you thought about using a gate around it?  When my niece was young, my mom and I talked about going this route.  We ended up not using one because she never really touched the tree.  She honestly sat in awe of it and when she wanted to touch anything, we sat with her and let her hold said ornaments.
  • Every christmas my Mom loves to tell how my brother (who was in a walker at the time) ripped down the Christmas Tree 2 times and they had to tether it to the wall in with fishing line. You might want to consider anchoring the tree in case he gets curious.

    LOLOLOL.

Maybe a year ago that would have worked.  Now, he would drag the gate across the LR taking the tree down with it, or try to climb it (and probably succeed).

I think we will probably just have to watch him like a hawk because he can get around/above/below any type of barrier we put up.

  • I feel your pain. :)  Last year my boys were all over the tree; pulling the branches and breaking the ornaments.

This year we are putting the tree in the corner so only the front is accessible. I purchased a box of plastic ornaments to hang on the lower portion of the tree. I think we might also use some of their trains and train tracks to place around the base of the tree. Hopefully that will give them something to do other than pulling on the branches.

Are your kids into trains at all? Maybe that might work for you?
