Recommend your mechanic on the seacoast

My favorite mechanic shop has closed in North Hampton. I need to have one of my cars looked at for an oil leak, but now I don't have a mechanic I can trust. Please recommend yours! TIA!

Re: Recommend your mechanic on the seacoast

  • Dana's Towing in Hampton. The owner is MH's best friend. He's great, VERY trustworthy, and an extremely hard worker. Very fair (to a fault). Can't go wrong with him.
  • do NOT go to pep boys in portsmouth.  i had an oil leak and they did nothing about it and my car died.  on top of that they were complete aholes.
  • I can't recommend Jerry Burke in Barrington high enough. My entire extended family (and pretty much all of their friends and family as well) have been going to him for years. He's the most loyal, knowledgable, trust-worthy man and just a sweetheart to boot. (Oh, and affordable too!) Worth the drive (errr, tow) from where you live. I promise :)
  • Buzz Davies Tire Co in Portsmouth.  It's my uncle's business and they are great.  Extremely affordable and quality service.
  • I use Gino at Established Towing on Route 1.

He was recommended to me by a friend with a lot of cars.  Gino and his team are AMAZING.  They are affordable and do a thorough job.  My car was running like junk - I was sure I needed a new transmission.  Nope!  My other repair shop - Bob Tessier's (which was across the street) put in the wrong spark plugs, so the engine was misfiring and I couldn't get any kind of torque out of it.  A $3600 job turned into a $180 job.  Love that!

  • We use Exeter Auto Works.  They are not always the cheapest, but never seem to recommend unneeded work and are reliable.
