Infertility Question

Has anyone used Kaiser Permanente for infertility issues? Thoughts?

Re: Infertility Question

  • I have not. But I have heard from other people that they are one of the few medical groups that do cover it. GL!
  • i haven't, but just wanted to say that i hope it all works out for you.

Thanks!! I actually work for KP but not on the medical side. We have been trying for a little over a year with no luck. My OB suggested seeking assistance from IF. I am told we have really good coverage for IF but I have not heard anything about the department as a whole. Here's hoping for a baby in 2010. Big Smile
  • Didn't Staycee use Kaiser for her IF treatments? I'm not sure what board she frequents now...
  • Staycee did use Kaiser. I remember asking her for an OB rec but she told me she only went through Kaiser. She posts on the OC baby board from time to time so you could try her there.
  • She did use KP!  I have contact with her, I'll pass this message on.  She posts on Snarky-TTTC on the bump boards (used to be ttc 12+)
  • Thanks Ladies!!!! You all rock.
  • Interesting that there are couple of people saying Kaiser covers IF because we have Kaiser and they don't cover it.  Well, let me rephrase that, they don't cover me going to a private RE even though we have their POS plan that covers doctors outside of Kaiser.  I think it all depends on the plan but from what we've been told there isn't any IF coverage with Kaiser.  So definitely check your plan.

If you need to go out of network, let me know.  We have an awesome RE. :)

  • I just found this site!  http://www.kpivf.com/

ETA: This is for a clinic in the Bay Area but it might have some good info.

  • KP has their own IF department. I do not believe they will cover OSMD IF treatment and IVF. Since I am an employee of KP, I will pay my normal copay for rxs and visits. If I choose to go outside, I have a 20% coinsurance and a $30,000 max. I did check out the Bay Area website. I wonder how that would work for KP employees? I do not mind traveling for a good price. Wink
  • I don't know about IVF, but I know our insurance covers IUI at 50% of the cost of the procedure as well as 100% of any related medications if we needed to go that route.  I'm definite that staycee had IUI's through KP here in OC.

That's a good deal.  My plan won't cover any treatment.  I have an 80/20 plan with them on the POS side and even that doesn't cover IF.  :(

  • I'm really late in the game but here is my input.  Kaiser does everything except IVF.   If you were to need IVF, you would have to go out of network.  Whether or not IF is covered is up to the plan your employer chose.  I was very happy with Kaiser's IF program.  I had 2 laps with them and they were great.
