Weekend getaway rec.

Hey ladies! I am trying to help out a friend that lives in Chicago that is looking for a reccomendation. She wants to take her DH somewhere for his birthday (the weekend of Nov. 6-8) and wants somewhere driving distance, preferably less than 3 hours. They haven't lived in Chicago long so would like to visit a neat area outside of the city. She is thinking maybe a Bed and Breakfast, but is up for any ideas of great places to visit/things to do. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks so much.

Re: Weekend getaway rec.

  • The delafield hotel in delafield wisconsin is b&b ish. I mean it is an actual hotel with hotel amenities, but it is quaint. We loved it there! Cute little town, not much to do, but cute town and near milwaukee.
  • I am looking in to Galena for my birthday weekend.  Lots of cute b&b's or resort hotels, shopping, spas, wineries, etc.
  • Great ... Thank you! What do you know about The Kirby House B&B in Saugatuck?
  • Saugatuck is a great town- love it!  Never stayed at any B&B's since my in-laws live closeby.  Love all of the restaurants and shops.

Kohler's hotel is running a special right now- just saw it via email yesterday.  She might also try that.

This was my first thought.  There is also Lake Geneva with some really cute b&bs and inns.  Just stay away from the Abbey and Grand Geneva.  We had bad experiences at both of those places.

  • Another vote for Galena.  Eagle Ridge is fantastic!
  • I 3rd the vote for Galena! Love, love,  love it! You can rent cozy homes in Eagle Ridge.
