User restrictions on printer?
I have a desktop computer with 2 different user accounts. One for DH and I that's admin, and 1 for MIL who lives in our guest house and uses our computer often. MIL will print out anything and everything, which is very wasteful as you can imagine. The other night she printed out pages and pages of baby names.
Can I make it so she can't print or is only allowed to print in draft mode? Or do I just have to locker her out of the computer entirely?
Re: User restrictions on printer?
Maybe... our printer is a network printer so things might be a bit different. This is on my Vista machine and should, in theory, prevent her from printing entirely from that account. But I don't really have a way to verify this will work as I'm expecting it to, so you might try logging into her account and trying to print something to see what happens.
From your admin account open the control panel and find your printer. Right click on the printer and select properties, and then select the security tab. From there add the account your MIL uses and set the permissions to deny printer access to that account.
Although I would suggest talking to her about her print habits if you haven't already. Maybe she just needs a kick in the pants to realize printing so much isn't OK. If she gets an user denied message when she tries to print after you've done this and realizes you locked her out my guess is she'll be mad.
