I am getting so frustrated with my classmates....some of them KNOW they have the swine flu and are sick as dogs but still come to class.
the girl NEXT to me has her own box of tissues and is constantly sneezing/hacking/dying to the point i can't hear the teacher. AND does doesn't cover her mouth or nose when she does this because she is typing. And she touched my binder. I point blank asked her to leave before i got sick and she laughed. I wasn't being funny, it was an order.
If i were a teacher, I would fail anyone that came to class sick for being so selfish that they are willing to get everyone around them sick....or beat the parents up for sending the child to school sick when they come to pick up their sick child that i sent home...
Re: Gripe: Going to Work/School Sick...
I went to class when I was sick a lot because I didn't want to miss, but I have to agree with you, it's not fair to infect your classmates.
My boss came in really sick and told us that he was showing dedication. I told him that when he made me sick, I would not be in. I don't think he got it though...
Hypocrisy, thy name is SBS...
I'll admit, I'm a totaly hypocrite about this. I HATE it when my students come to class sick, and I get mildly irritated if my fellow classmates do the same.
But, If I'm "well enough" to get out of bed (even if I'm hacking/sneezing/whatever), I try to go to work or school. Moreso to teach class than to attend class...
HOWEVER, I will say that I take extra precautions if I do -- I sit in the back corner, I have a vat of Purrel on my desk, I touch all the handouts last, etc. etc. etc. And if someone is uncomfortable/asks me to move, I do it in a heart beat.
This.
I know that when I am feeling sick, I feel my absolute WORST in the morning and right before I go to bed. So I will at least attempt to get up and get showered before determining if I can make it through the day.
However, I'd never tell somebody to get away from me. I take my own precautions against those who aren't as considerate as they should be - I take zinc EVERY morning (haven't been sick ONCE since I took it and I am an elementary school teacher - hello germy kids!), I drink my orange juice and get plenty of vitamin C... I am a religious hand washer and Clorox wipes user.
If the germs get through all of that stuff, then so be it - but I realize that most people AREN'T smart enough to just stay home - so I try to protect myself first.
