What's yours?
Mine: I CAN'T STAND the Appliance Direct commercials. Not only are they obnoxious, but they play during every single commercial break on every channel. I want to gouge my eyes out. Phew, ok vent over.
Re: Random Vents
The Appliance Direct commercials crack me up. Especially how they put the text up of EVERY word they say.
Vent: This lower back pain I've had for too long. Pulled something a while ago and just can't shake it. Hopefully soon.
My Photography Blog
DH hates Grace Dance too! It worries me how he flips out when those commercials come on!
My vent: I will never eat Jimmy Johns again, since I got food poisoning from it yesterday. I am finally able to lift my head off the toilet
Today was the Friday of all Fridays - my students were so horribly behaved today! Nonstop whining, tattling, non-compliance - they were driving me up a wall.
Ahh....weekend....you do not come often enough
Speaking of appliances.......
My vent is my tenants at my rental house. They are idiots! They told me a month ago that the fridge wasn't working.(i knew what the problem was since it has happened before) They told me not to worry about it since they have their own fridge that they can use. About a week ago I told them I was going to come pick it up and get it out of their way, they said ok.
Thurs I go to pick up their rent check and she asks me if I can get it repaired since theirs was "about to die out." I told them I would send someone out to look at it.
Yesterday I met the repair guy over at the house. After he gave me an estimate, Travis and I determined we would just get a new(or used) one for the house. I asked them how much longer they thought they had on the use of their fridge and they inform me that they are using a rental fridge from rent-a-center and it is costing $50/wk to rent. They have had it since the other one stopped working.
WTF....ummmm, hello! They never told me they were renting one. I would have NEVER expected them to pay that kind of money to rent one. They told me they had one and not to worry about it. Now they are giving me a sob story about how they can't afford to pay $50/wk for a rental(duh...who could afford that?!?) Now I feel like a jackass for not taking care of it sooner, even though they never told me that was the case. Why do I feel bad? I have no reason to feel bad....that was their own fault.
I just wanna be a good landlord and take care of the people who are paying off my house(Maddox's college fund;-)!) I can't help them out unless they come to me. Ughhhh! It's always nice to get that news at 5pm-ish on a friday. At that point I am rushin to find a different fridge for them so they dont have to go another day paying for a rental. The new one should be on it's way there right now!!!
I don't think you should feel bad. With our rental company (the co that manages the house we rent) we have to get everything approved in writing first before they will reimburse us for expenses. I would say since they didn't tell you they were renting a fridge you had no way of knowing. Now that you know, and are doing something to replace it, that shows you aren't a bad landlord.
Here's what our landlord did to us, when we first moved in, I came home to the smell of gas all over the house. I had to leave the house and call the gas company. They came out in an emergency call and determined the leak was coming from the gas dryer. We thought, ok, it's our issue, we'll pay for it. Well, it turned out to the gas dryer vent to the outside of the house. It has so much built up lint from YEARS (probably 10) of never being cleaned out that it was completely blocked. They charged us $100 to clean it out and replace it. The landlord REFUSED to reimburse us for it because we didn't get preapproval. Nevermind that fact it was a gas emergency and we had to evacuate the house due to homeowners lack of care. Apparently we were supposed to call them and wait until they could get someone out to the house in a few days. So lame.
You sound like a great landlord in that you are caring enough to feel bad about this! Good luck, I hope you get it worked out!
I am annoyed by bad parents ( I work at a school ).
Yesterday I saw a first grader cross the (very busy!!) school parking lot by themselves because their parent did not want to get out of their car to walk up and come get their child.
