my husband and i are planning to relocate next aug to florida. we are looking at buying a townhome which seems to be low maintance. we found a town home in timberpointe in avalon park. 32828. it seems to be a good deal but i was hoping for some feedback on the area. anyone familiar with it or better yet live there. we are 34 & 30 and have a 7 year old boy. im looking for good schools & family friendly. any feedback good or bad would be helpful.
Re: moving
Avalon Park is a great neighborhood and very family friendly. The schools are located right in the neighborhood - it's great.
It does not border on an area with crime at all. It's a very safe neighborhood. It's literally at the end of Alafaya so there is nothing past it but it does extend all the way to highway 50.
I would definitely rent there
Good to know....it's such a cute area.
The houses in Avalon Park are adorable. I wanted one of them so bad but DH wanted a huge backyard, so we couldn't find that there in our price range. It has a really cute little downtown-ish/main street area.
When we relocated, it was because DH's job moved us here. I am currently unemployed. I haven't seen much out here, but to honest, I haven't been looking really hard.
I currently have a contract on a house there actually. It's in the South Village - all the garages are in the front and it has nice backyards. There are TONS of foreclosures/short sales and they are getting bought up quickly.
As NorCal said - it has an adorable downtown area and lots of festivals and such. It's a great neighborhood for families.
We have found that most of the houses can have fences. If you are on water or on a corner, you may have to put up a shorter fence you can see through - think picket fence. The yards aren't huge but def enough space for your son to throw the ball around. I have a great realtor if you are interested.
We didn't get the house There was water damage - that caused mold! Boo. We are still looking in the area so we could still be friends
Thanks! I have lost 2 of the 5. I don't think I will do the other 3 by next week. LoL.
I am very happy we found out now - just a bummer! I'm about ready to just pick a house I like and knock on the door and tell the current owners to move! hehe.
Thanks on the 2 pounds! I was suppose to have 3 more by next Saturday but that's not going to happen obviously! It's my last five pounds - the hardest.
I would also consider looking in the Windermere area. They had a lot of beautiful townhomes and their schools are amazing. My husband and I have been looking out there for a few months because we are planning on moving soon. I have taught in the schools and one of my good friends teaches at the elemetary schools.
Also, it is tucked back away from everything but still close to a lot of places where as Avalon is really out there.
I don't think she is looking on that side of town. I have heard awesome things about Windermere but it's too far from everything for me.
Avalon is only 5-10 minutes from Waterford Lakes which has a Super Target, restaurants, shops, etc. and only 20 minutes from downtown once you hop on the 408. It's really not that far at all. As soon as they open the Lee Vista exit to 417, it's going to be super close to the airport too.
