Homemade Stockings

I am making a stocking for my nephew in honor of his first Christmas. I do not knit, so that is out of the question. With that in mind, where would you recommend that I look for ideas/inspiration/possible patterns?

Re: Homemade Stockings

  • JoAnns has a bunch of applique kits.  There's some cross stitch kits in there, too.

  • I just bought a pattern I plan on making stockings for us out of. It's a McCall's Craft pattern - M5778. I'll be making stocking F.

I'd just go look through the pattern books. They have lots of non-knit options.

I bought two of these at Hobby Lobby and have really enjoyed them. They are really easy, but just take some time.

  • I am also making homemade stockings for both Drew and I to use from now on and i decided to use fleece. Its just as easy as making fleece blankets except you do it really close together and really tight..then all you do is turn it inside out so that the ties are on the inside then just fold down the top and trim the ties on the outside... adorable! plus theyre tons of options when it comes to design and colors. Another plus is if you're not the best sewer then fleece is very easy.. you can really attach alot things.. When i sew anything on a think fabirc like fleece i like doubling or even tripling my thread for looks.. it looks almost as think as a yarn.. i really like it..
