Where to donate cake

So, I've been taking cake decorating classes & I really enjoy them. ?But I have one issue: I don't need to eat all of the cake that I'm creating for class. I have a wedding cake class on Sunday that requires I make 3 cakes (6',8',10'), which is a ton of cake. ?Any ideas on organizations that would accept donated cakes?

?

Thanks!?

Re: Where to donate cake

  • I don't know if you would have time to plan the cake in advance, but I'm sure a nursing home would gladly accept as long as it is made as sugar free as possible.

The Boys and Girls club would also be a safe bet.  I'm pretty sure they still do summer camps.  They have an after school program, so if you still have the need to get rid of cakes after school starts, I'm sure they would love to take the cake!

There's also a Crisis pregnancy center that houses teenage mothers, victims of domestic abuse, etc.  I can't remember the name of it right now.  But I would imagine they would love a pick-me-up like free cake!

  • The Boys and Girls Clubs here are doing anti-obesity stuff so I don't think that would be the best place but a nursing home would probably love it. Perhaps even call Nashville's Table or contact a local mission ...
  • For my wedding, the caterers had a deal with a fire station that they donated all the leftover food to. Maybe call around and see if you could give them the cake?

  • I'd drop-it off at a firestation or a homeless shelter or a battered women's shelter.

  • You can donate cake to me! I LOVE cake! It's my one divulgence! :D

    ?

You can just walk into any business & drop off cakes...they appreciate them!

    ?

I always take goodies with me to vets offices with my business cards. They always get excited when they see me walk through the door! ?

  • Pretty sure the YMCA in Franklin might enjoy them. They do day camps all summer.
