Today they opened up the doors for families to apply for assistance (in Louisville it was today anyway) and they had to close early because they already had 800 families apply. Tomorrow they are opening later than normal also. I don't really know the point of my post, but it makes me sad for all those families out there that cannot afford Christmas for their families. I will definitely be "adopting" and angel again this year.
Re: Angel Trees
It's put on by the Salvation Army, but the trees are put all over...at the mall, wal-mart, banks, churches, some businesses put one up.
Sorry I don't have a link.
Thanks! I will have to check around.
Yes, it is very saddening. The charity organization I volunteer with used to do Angel Trees every year, but a couple of years ago, we had so many children left over that nobody would buy for - we ended up spending over $7,000 on gifts for them that we had not budgeted for. Now, we adopt a couple of families each year and provide for them at Christmas. I'm glad that you care enough about these poor children to want to help out. I wish there were more people out there who were able (and willing) to.
