South Florida Nestie - visiting Chicago (1st yr anniversary)

Hello Ladies!! We just booked our anniversary trip, and will be visiting the windy city next month (11/13-11/17).  We are staying at the Sheraton Towers.  The reviews say it's centrally located.

Are there any suggestions of things we should do, places we should definetely go to.  We are thinking about getting the Chicago City Pass, it includes the following for $69 p/p:

Shedd Aquarium VIP, The Field Museum & Underground Adventure, Adler Planetarium, Museum of Science and Industry, and either the John Hacock Observatory Fast Pass or the Skydeck Chicago Fast Pass.

Please let me know if you feel this is worth it.

  • I love going to the museums. And yes that is worth it if you plan on going to each one.
  • Yeah, that sounds like a great deal! There's also a lot of good places to eat off of State St. One place I love after work is Trattoria No 10 (10 N Dearborn), they have a $12 bar buffet from 5:00-7:30 with a $6 drink purchase (which one glass of wine is $8) and the food is good. 2 kinds of pasta, caprese salad, cold veggie platter (zucchini, asparagus, squash), meat & cheese platter, pasta salad, & a bunch more.

  • thank you ladies!!!

Any recommendations for the best chicago style pizza? :)

I also need to make reservations for a nice restaurant for our anniversary, I posted previously and have those saved, but was wondering if there are any other recommendations.

  • There are many good choices for pizza.  Lou Malnati's buttercrust is fantastic.  Uno's and Due are also great.
  • Skip the Hancock Observatory and use your Chicago pass for the Sears ("Willis") Tower skydeck....go to the Hancock building, wait in line for the elevator to the Signature Lounge, and grab a drink there....you can get a drink and relax in the lounge for less than a ticket to the obs. deck.  Have a good anniversary :)

ChiTownBelle....thank you for that recommendation - we really didn't know which one to go to...and the drink sounds very good! :) Thanks for the anniersary wishes as well!

  • No prob, and the ladies restroom has the best view!  Random, I know, but they have floor to ceiling windows in there!  And my vote too is for Lou Malnatti's pizza.  Giordano's is good too.
