I CD, wanna know what we do?

We've been CDing Bella since she was about 2 weeks old (she was WAY too tiny at first to use the CD's that we bought). Our system works for us so I thought I would share since it seems that so many of you are now wanting to CD.

We bought 24 orange edge GMD prefolds and 24 yellow edge GMD prefolds, 3 XS Thirsties covers and 3 small thirsties covers (not the duos just the regular thirsties), 2 snappis,  30 washcloths for wipes (we use Target's circo brand washcloths). We use a trash can from Target for our dirty dipes at home with no liner, we dump the entire contents into the washer and then wipe out the can (which RARELY has anything on it). We use a monkeyfootdesign (etsy seller) medium wetbag for the diaper bag. For all of that we've probably spent a little over $100. I wish we had one more snappi but other than that our stash is perfect for us.

Currently she's wearing the yellow edge (they just started fitting last week) and an xs thirsties cover, which she's almost outgrown. I think we can use it for another week.  Once she outgrows this cover we'll continue with the yellow prefolds and then the small covers. When we change her diaper we dip the wipe in a bowl of water that we have in her changing table drawer, wipe her, throw the diaper and wipe in the can and then put the new diaper on. We only change the cover if it's soiled with poop. If it seems wet on the inside of the cover we just wipe it out with a dry wipe and toss that in the diaper can. Otherwise we change it every day.

With 24 diapers we had to wash about every day and a half at first and now we do every other day or every other day and a half. It's no big deal! We line dried in the summer when it was nice and now it's too cold here to do that. I LOVE line drying, it makes the diapers smell so good and it suns out any stains! We use purex free and clear about 1/4 of the amt that you would usually use for a load.

We've had NO issues with rash or blowouts with the CD. Although when we used the sposies for our flights we had 2 blowouts! I couldn't believe it. DH loves that we CD and thinks it's easier than the disposables but then again he's never really used disposables except for our trip and we had the blowouts which didn't make him too happy :) He's funny when people talk about disposables, he thinks it's crazy to spend so much money on diapers.

That's our story and what's currently worked for us since she was 2 weeks old. If you have questions, please ask!! I'll help if I can. I LOVE CDing but it's not for everyone :)
