Re: recommend a good 1st sippy cup, please!

  • Oh my God, he is NOT old enough for a sippy cup!!! Surprise When did he get so big???? I think it is time for you to get going on #2 Wink
  • I have heard good things about Nuby sippy cups. And, they are BPA free :) I think we'll try those first with Jordan, probably around August...
  • we had the most success early on w/the Nuby soft spout. ?since it's soft, and the valve is just part of the spout, they can get stuff out by playing with/chewing on it - i think it helps them 'get it' faster, ?instead of the harder sippys where they really have to figure out how to suck differently.
  • We had to start with straw sippies cause he refused every sippy I ever gave him but could do the straw.....and when I say every kind I mean....EVERY KIND! He loved the straw ones though and he finally used a normal sippy @2 yrs old. Hopefully we don't have the same issue with Jackson!
  • 2nd vote for Nuby soft spout!!!
  • another fan of Nuby's!  We cut the spouts a little extra, though, since Caroline still isn't "sucking" so she cna just bite down on the spout and the liquid comes out!

Once you're ready for the hard-spout ones, though, I recommend the take-n-toss.  Love 'em!

  • We also started w/ the Nuby soft spouts.  Then we transitioned to hard spouts & straws.
  • You guys are great! I got the Nuby soft spout for him and he is starting to bite on it but he def. doesn't realize how high up you have to hold it, esp. since at first I didn't want it to be too heavy so I only put a little in, then I realized it was even harder to get any out!  We will figure it out together!!!
