Decorating for the Holidays - Clicky Poll!!
With the holiday's quickly approaching, I was curious as too when everyone starts their holiday decorating

Re: Decorating for the Holidays - Clicky Poll!!
I'm totally a decorating spaz- and I admit it. We start putting up Christmas lights and holiday decore as soon as we can get away with it from the HOA.
We can't put our Christmas Tree up until mid-november, I ordered a new LED Fiber Optic tree, but it wont ship until the first week of the Nov.
I CAN NOT WAIT to see our new house in Christmas lights- it was one of my criteria for buying a house- how it would look with Christmas lights.
I voted for the day/weekend after Thanksgiving because that's always my goal, but the truth is that I'm always in grading hell from like Thanksgiving through December, and my real answer should be whenever I get around to it.
Although, we've never done Christmas lights before. That's my goal for this year - to get them up this time. Last year was the first time we put ornaments on the Christmas tree (we bought it the year before and put it up without ornaments to see how the cats did with it - for a week - and then got lazy and never put the ornaments on).
I do it on the first of December. I dont like to do it before Thanksgiving and I hate hearing Christmas music before that holiday too.
But this year it might take a week later we are moving into a new place on the 4th so we have to get all that set up first. But I am soo excited to be decorating again.

You realize your mom like inspires me. I ALWAYS love her house at Christmas, and whenever I think of decorating for Christmas I think of her house and wanting my house to be as warm and inviting as her house always has been at Christmas time.
Awwww! I'll tell her you said that!
My mom with her 3 Christmas trees! lol
And I would LOVE for my house to look like hers. I just always remember all the work that went into decorating like that (especially back when they used to set up the village - remember that??) - and I get exhausted just thinking about it! Maybe if I wasn't an English teacher in grading hell in December I could find the energy to do all that. lol
although i would LIKE to do this the weekend after thanksgiving, i put down "when we get around to it." seems like we end up getting really busy and sometimes we're late on it, but oh well. better late than never.?
i, too, cannot stand hearing christmas music around halloween (thanks to 99.9) isn't that when they're starting it now? Oh, so annoying. don't get me wrong... i'm no grinch. as a matter of fact i LOVE christmas music. however, i like to take 1 holiday at a time and sometimes i feel like thanksgiving is ignored b/c ppl get so excited about christmas and skip right over it. oh and christmas means another year has almost past. ?
I voted for some time in November, before Thanksgiving, because one of my best friends (the little sister I never had) comes down from school in Boston and spends the holiday with us, since her family is in SoCal. But this is her last year... Well, that and DH loves Christmas more than anyone I have ever met.
We have a pre-lit 7' skinny tree that fits perfectly in our tiny apartment, and we also put up lit green garland in certain places. The color-scheme is generally red and gold, and our apartment always looks so naked when we take everything down.
Our trees and decorations go up as soon as dh will permit-hehehe. Our December is really busy and dh & dd1's birthdays are right at the end of November. I'm all for calling it a birthday tree until after but he's not really into it?! I'm thinking by mid-November I'll have quite a few things out.
I think we need a Nestie Christmas party! Thoughts?
